Summary: Akutsu and Dan meet for ice cream, but end up imposing their ideas on each other.

Dan made his way into the ice cream shop that he visited frequently. He waved to the cashier and took a seat in a corner. A smile was on his face because he’d finally be able to meet Akutsu in person. A little dangerous of course since it was someone he had met over the internet, but he was confident that Akutsu wouldn’t harm him.
He looked around the room as he searched for someone who he thought might be Akutsu. Dan hoped that Akutsu would know the right ice cream shop. He wasn’t sure how many there were in town and he hadn’t exactly specified on one, but hopefully they’d both end up in the same place.

Akutsu knew where to go. He stepped into the icecream parlor with a grunt. What the hell was he doing? He wasn't even sure himself. It was a dumb idea to meet another one of the pansy students. Shoving his hands into his tattered jeans he bot the bullet and ventured completely in.

"I'm looking for Dan....something." Because, He wasn't going to spend ten minutes looking around like he was lost. Especially when he could just demand and get things done faster.

Dan was beginning to lose hope when he heard someone say his name. “Oh! Yes! That’s me!” Dan stood up and nearly knocked down his chair. It was only because of the wall behind him that it didn’t fall. He smiled and went up to Akutsu. “Akutsu-san, right? It’s me, Dan Taichi!” He held out his hand for a handshake. “It’s nice to finally meet you!”

Oh god. Yes, this was going to be painful, he could already tell it. "You're short....and rather small." Was all that Akutsu said, because he didn't know what else to do.

"I suppose I couldn't expect much more." He shook the hand rather roughly and glanced back to the icecream. It was the only real reason he came out.

He nodded having long accepted the fact that he was small. “And you’re tall and rather big!” Dan replied as he felt the familiar ache in his neck from looking up so much. His face lit up as Akutsu shook his hand and the smiled grew bigger. “So, Akutsu-san, what type of ice cream do you want? I’m going to have chocolate this time!”

Akutsu grunted a bit and dropped his hand ontop of Dan's head. "Strawberry...." Because that was his all time favorite. He wasn't sure why he had his hand ontop of Dan's head, but he was the right size to do that to.

"Don't look up to people. You'll end up hurting your neck."

“Huh? Oh, okay.” Dan turned his head so it was level. He was a little relieved since he was getting tired of having to look up so much, but he still wanted to crane his neck to look up at Akutsu’s face. Dan was used to having Akutsu’s hand on his head too. People seemed to enjoy putting their hands on his head. “Strawberry? Good choice! I’ll be right back with them!” Dan ran off to the cashier and ordered the ice cream. He came back minutes later with the ice cream. “Let’s sit down and talk!” Dan said as he offered the strawberry ice cream.

And talk. He was expecting free icecream, the talking part was something he was trying to avoid. But, it wasn't very polite (ha like Akutsu was polite) to let someone buy you icecream and then run.

"Nobody is important enough to look up to. You should always be your own man."

Dan started to have his ice cream. He stared at Akutsu while thinking about that piece of advice. “I should? I don’t think I could do that. I’m not very...strong. Anyways I like looking up to people. It helps me, I guess. I’m not so sure about you though. I bet it’s easy for you to not look up to anybody. You seem really strong!” Dan was awed when he first saw Akutsu. He looked like someone who could fight a gazillion people all at once and win.

"And if you have to look up to someone. Always do so to an ideal you can meet and surpass." Akutsu blinked in the middle of putting a spoonful of icecream into his mouth.

"I suppose I was lucky enough to be born that way..." His statue was different, but the extra bonuses he got with being a mutant.

“Uwaa~ You have so much good advice! I’ll try to remember everything and try my best to do it! Because I want to be really strong too!” He was glad that Akutsu had agreed on the meeting. He was learning a lot. “Oh, what are your powers anyway? Like what can you do?” Dan wiped his mouth with a napkin. He was embarrassed that he was so messy with ice cream.

He raised an eyebrow at that. "What are my powers? Hn... enhanced strength...agility...." he was reciting what Sakaki told him. "healing, speed, senses...and I can rip through sheet metal with my hands..."

Dan’s eyes widened with each ability Akutsu had said. “Woah, that’s a lot!” He looked at Akutsu’s hands and then back up. “Could you show me? I mean like how you rip metal!” Despite all the time he had spent at Ryuhana, he still had this feeling of shock and amazement with each mutant he met. “You are strong! My power isn’t very strong. I can only see the past and stuff. It’s nowhere near interesting as your’s!” He never liked being able to see the past. Sometimes it was fun, but it could get to become so...gruesome.

"Ah...I guess I could show you." Did Dan really want to see that? Not many people really want him to do anything of the sort. "And being able to see the past could be important. At least if you were a detective.."

He finished his icecream before standing. "We need to go find someplace with a car I can break." Which for Akutsu that meant going right outside.

“Important, detective...Yeah...It could be!” Dan said with false enthusiasm. A detective meant solving mysteries involving deaths and such. He hated seeing the gorey stuff the most. It was scary and gave him nightmares.
“Eh?! Car? Break?” Dan stood up and left his nearly finished ice cream on the table. “Akutsu-san, you can’t do that! I take it back, you don’t have to show me!” Dan hurriedly said as he shook his head. “You don’t have to break the car, really!” Dan panicked.

"Calm down..." Akutsu rolled his eyes at that. "What is with you people and being so..." he really couldn't think of the word for it. Moving outside he glanced around.

"We'll go to the park, and I'll show you something there."

He breathed a sigh of relief. He didn’t want anything to be broken because of him. “Akutsu-san, you should care more about other people’s feelings.” Dan said with a slightly naggish tone to it. He followed after Akutsu with another wave at the cashier. “Alright...But promise not to break anything expensive?”

"People don't care about our feelings." He pointed out before shoving his hands into his pockets. "Why should I give a damn about theirs?"

He continued to walk looking around for something to break. He really needed something that would work rather nicely.

“Huh? But- Of course people care about our feelings! We’re all the same deep down except some of us just have something special. It shouldn’t be different than an average person being extremely gifted in music or sports.” Dan was sure of it. He had never personally witnessed any anti-mutant movements and never paid much attention to the news anyway. “And if you show that you’re nice, then they’ll be nice too! It all works out in the end!”

He stopped to face Dan with a frown. "That's not true. If you really want to know what they do..." He pushed up his own shirt a bit, across his stomach was a rather nice looking scar.

"I didn't do anything to deserve this. Before they had tried to burn me....I healed to quickly, so they wanted to see how much they could hurt me."

Dan stopped and his eyes widened. He stared at the scar for a moment before turning his head away. “No, no, it’s not true!” Dan replied stubbornly. He was in denial since believing it would mean breaking his picture of a happy, perfect world. “People don’t do that, it’s just not right. Hurting people is mean! You’re lying aren’t you? You got that from an accident, right?”

"Yes...Dan. I tripped and fell on a knife my friend was holding." He grumbled faintly before pulling down his shirt. "And then to get it out, he dragged it across my stomach."

He honestly didn't mean to be so sarcastic, but it really annoyed him. "You see the past, then you should see that people don’t change. There will always be hate."

“Then that person wasn’t a friend. Friends shouldn’t do that! And...and holding knives are really dangerous!” Dan couldn’t really think of anything to say to that. He had a hard time believing things like that. “People can change. They just need help!” Dan couldn’t help, but remember the bloodier things he had seen like that time with Ryoma. He shuddered for a moment and shook his head.

"Maybe some people can. Maybe some may not." He shrugged faintly before starting to walk again. "Honestly, I haven't found one normal person who could accept me. And I don't have any visual mutations. What happens to those people who have six arms.."

Dan stared at Akutsu with a look of hesitation. He ran to catch up with him after deciding to stay with him. “Six arms?” He thought for a moment and frowned. It was the same for him. No one could tell he was a mutant by appearance, but yet the kids in his class had always bothered and bullied him. “But isn’t that why there are schools like Ryuhana? To help people like us?”

"Help people do what?" He shook his head a bit. "Sure, they're going to teach you how to control your powers. But, what good is that going to do? Teach you how to appear normal. Again it doesn’t help the people who are truly different. You can't control the fact you have six arms or wings."

“But maybe they could find a way to...um, make it go away! I mean Ryuhana has all sorts of doctors and they test us and maybe they’ll use that information to just make the bad stuff go away!” Dan said hopefully. “There’s all sorts of things they could do to help us. We just...have to give them some time.”

"That's being rather hypocritical now. You want people to accept everyone. But, then you call it all bad stuff. I don't want to be mean." He placed his hand on top of Dan's head again.

"But, you're not thinking."

“B-but the bad stuff...It’s just the stuff that hurts people. Because hurting people is bad.” Dan looked up to Akutsu again. “I’m not? But- Um...” He went silent when he couldn’t think of anything to say. “I- Uh...”

"I don't go to your "school", so maybe I have a different view on things." He shared Sakaki's view to a tee really. "I think that we're better than everyone else. We didn't ask to be born this way, its evolution. And people will just have to step aside or deal with the consequences."

“Better than everyone else? But, still...” Dan frowned. He still couldn’t think of anything to defend his own ideas. “We don’t have to be superior to them. I mean all of this better than them stuff is just going to get a lot more people hurt!”

"They think we're freaks." Was all he said. Frowning a bit he stopped, he wasn't even sure where he was going. He did that quite often. "We are superior to them though. They realize that, and that's probably why they hate us,":

“But we’re not. No one’s a freak!” Dan moved so that he was in front of Akutsu. “Akutsu-san! Don’t you have family? Don’t you have someone not like us in your family? I bet everyone’s related to someone like us someway. That’s not right, to just hate someone especially if you know someone that’s like us. It’s not right that they hate us, but it’s also not right for us to think we’re better than them.” His hands curled around the ends of his shirt. He was getting riled up by the conversation.

"Who's to say what's right and what isn't. As for family... my mother sent me to the looney bin and my father tried to kill me." And that was that.

“Oh...” He let go of the edge of his shirt. “Oh, hehe, whoops! Look at the time, I better get back before it gets too late.” Dan glanced at his wrist to look at the time. “It was...nice talking to you. I...I hope we can something again some other time.” Dan said with a cheery smile as if he hadn’t participated in that conversation. “Goodbye, Akutsu-san!” He waved happily as he started to walk away.

Akutsu simply shook his head. Well, he probably disturbed the kid for the rest of his life. But, hey he wanted to bring up family. "Don't do anything I wouldn't do." He smirked a bit. Like Dan was going to be mean to anyone.

“I’ll be sure to remember your advice!” He turned around before he crashed into anyway and ran off in the direction of Ryuhana.
