Email log: Inui, Renji

Summary: Eight short emails. One small step toward reconnection <3
Yanagi stares at the email from the Fukuoka Brotherhood's secretary, eyes completely open for once. Having accepted a transfer to the Tokyo branch at their request for personnel, he is now to contact one Inui Sadaharu about arrangements to be made before moving. The research he's done does not refute the initial gut feeling that it is his childhood friend, of all people. The initial email takes him thirty minutes and thirty seconds to send:
Inui receives a message and he reads it. And reads it. And reads it. He calmly checks the kanji, enlarging the text to inspect it closely. He contemplates whether he even remembers how to write Renji's name, but he does-- photographic memory and all. And though many other Japanese have the same kanji combination, the content of the message speaks for itself.
Yanagi reads the message, and supposes that since Inui's messages seems cordial, if not a little too succinct, he might as well proceed likewise.
The message is longer, Inui observes, a small smile creeping onto his lips. His should be just as long, he supposes.
It wasn't as long as he'd hoped it would be.
Yanagi almost smiles. He supposes this is what becoming vaguely re-acquainted feels like, though can't say for sure.
A slight frown creases his brow. Although he is more than capable of reaching and navigating Tokyo alone, it feels too abrupt to refuse assistance outright. But he doesn't want to trouble Inui, old friends or not, and decides to leave the request vague.
Inui doesn't check his weekly planner when he replies.
The next email doesn't require re-reading before Yanagi hits Send, with a smile.
Inui takes off his glasses and closes his eyes. Too much excitement for one day.
