Summary: Fuji recruits Ryoma to break into use Cerebro to locate Taki, who's been missing for two days. When they find out where he is, they launch an impromptu rescue mission to get him back.

Ryoma: ::realizing it's close to nine, sets aside his homework and pulls on his shoes, heading down and out of the dorms, over to the building that houses the Danger Room and Cerebro. He still has a bit of a residual headache from this morning, but it shouldn't interfere with his ability to use the system... He finally approaches the right room and looks around for Fuji::

Fuji: *waiting, perhaps a bit impatiently, and trying not to let it show through the customary smile he keeps in place -- Echizen isn't late; he was just early himself.* *approaches, and motions for him to follow* Come on.

Ryoma: ::sighs but shrugs and follows Fuji - he did offer to help, because really, how hard can it be to just find Taki? He's still not entirely sure how they're going to get in, though...:: So you're just gonna teleport us in.

Fuji: That's the idea. *studies the wall -- there's the door, and a panel for fingerprint identification which would presumably unlock the door* Have you been inside before?

Ryoma: ::nods, eyeing the door warily:: Yeah, a coupla times. You wanted to know how thick the wall was? ::he's still not sure this is the brightest idea, but he supposes he can remember enough to overestimate the distance::

Fuji: *nods* If you can remember. *studies the fingerprint lock and looks back at Ryoma* Do you think that you might have access since you've been in before?

Ryoma: ... I don't think so. Never opened the door myself - Tomiyama always wanted t'supervise or whatever. I c'n try... ::steps up to the lock, unsure as to whether trying it will set off any alarms::

Fuji: *still examining the wall, tracing fingertips over the doorframe -- he really can't judge the thickness from here, and he can't tell what's on the other side of the wall, either -- he wouldn't want to 'port them into a machine or pole or anything* Do you remember what it looked like inside?

Ryoma: ... Mostly. ::frowns:: F'you just put us in a straight line from here, should be okay... There's a walkway we gotta land on, but it's a straight shot.

Fuji: *supposes he could try that, maybe open a portal as a window, just ... look through instead of stepping through, but that's always been difficult* ... How's that lock working?

Ryoma: ::eyes the lock:: I dunno. S'just handprint activated. I don't have access though.

Fuji: You tried?

Ryoma: ... I know I don't. ::sighs and places his hand on the scanner - if they get in trouble it's Fuji's fault anyway. The lock beeps and turns red, announcing "Access Denied":: See?

Fuji: Let me try. *it's a long shot, but he's feeling crazy -- or possibly desperate -- enough that he hopes, especially if the alternative is a botched portal. He puts his hand on the scanner, like Echizen did, and ... it works?* *blinks dumbly at it* How did -- ?

Ryoma: ::eyes him, then the scanner:: ... Don't ask me. You're the one on X-Prime... maybe you all got access.

Fuji: Maybe. *shrugs, and ushers Echizen through the door before it closes*

Ryoma: Whatever. ::steps into the room ahead of Fuji and sets off down the short walkway without looking back. The sooner he does this, the sooner he can leave. He picks up the helmet, glancing back at Fuji:: You ever seen anyone use this?

Fuji: Haven't you?

Ryoma: ... ::rolls his eyes and mutters:: Fine, whatever. ::puts on the helmet and closes his eyes a moment, concentrating on Taki - the signal's weak to just his regular mutant-sense, but Cerebro amplifies the powers he stripped from his father until all he can think about is Taki and tracing out the location of the signature that's uniquely him is simple::

Fuji: *just watches, unable to really understand exactly what's going on, but trusting that it works; he keeps quiet so he doesn't disturb the process...*

Ryoma: ::the headache gets a bit worse but it's nothing that won't pass - soon enough, the image of Taki solidifies; Ryoma opens his eyes and types in the command on the console that will overlay a map on the psionic image he has now - he glances back at Fuji as the two images overlap:: He's there.

Fuji: *squints at the screen, studying it -- he's not familiar with the address, but he can trace a route back to Tomihana, and they should be able to get there tonight, if they're quick* *glances over at Echizen* Thank you.

Ryoma: ::nods a little, dismissing the image and the residual traces of Taki, gratefully pulling the helmet off and placing it on the console, taking a few breaths to re-orient himself as the world shifts under his feet. When he's fine again, he turns:: You want me to write the address down?

Fuji: *nods* Please, if you can.

Ryoma: ::nods and digs some paper and a pen out of his pocket - leftover from his homework earlier - and writes the address on it, handing it to Fuji:: S'not that far from here.

Fuji: You're not coming with?

Ryoma: ::blinks - he hadn't exactly thought Fuji would want company:: You want me to? ::his head hurts, still, and he wants to go to bed... but if Fuji's asking for help...::

Fuji: *considers this a moment, looking away while he thinks -- Echizen hadn't really done anything wrong, just ... undesirable, really, and ... he had to trust Yuuta to make his own decisions ... and he couldn't think of anyone else that could get Taki back.* *turns back, resolute* Yes. I do.

Ryoma: ... Fine. ::the sooner they leave, the sooner they can get back. Taki's probably fine, anyway... but on the off chance he's not...:: Let's go. ::heads for the door, assuming Fuji's going to follow - it will take a while to walk there, and the silence probably won't be comfortable::

Fuji: *follows, wordlessly, clutching the paper that Echizen gave him and staring at it every once in a while* We could take one of the vans.

Ryoma: ... Guess we could. You prolly got keys, right? ::he won't turn down a ride - it sure as hell beats walking::

Fuji: *nods, and holds up his keychain -- it's on the ring with his apartment key* It'll be easier than walking. *And there was no telling what state Taki would be in when they found him, either... He leads the way to the garage and starts up one of the school vans, and pulls out onto the road -- he'll take full responsibility for this, he swears.*

Ryoma: ::just slumps into the passenger seat and turns his head to watch the streets go by - if he closes his eyes he'll fall asleep.:: You really think he's in trouble? You must, f'you're goin' to all this trouble.

Fuji: It's been two days. I know ... for some people that isn't much, but he would have sent at least a text message. Even if Ryou was right and he had gone home with someone, it wouldn't keep him from letting someone know that he was ... *glances over briefly, then back to the road* ... well, safe.

Ryoma: ::nods a bit, then - he likes Taki all right, and he supposes Fuji has a point:: Well then I guess s'better to check. ::sits up a little as he senses they're getting closer:: C'n feel him better now... we're almost there. ::frowns:: He's not alone though.

Fuji: *frowns, too, and drives slower* Can you tell who he's with?

Ryoma: No one I've synched. Both mutants, though. I could f'you wanted to know, but... ::he's wary of synching things he hasn't seen in action before::

Fuji: No, that's fine. *just wanted to make sure it wasn't anyone they knew* Can you ... read them? *not sure if it works that way*

Ryoma: ::glances at him:: You mean tell what they're thinkin'? ::He goes quiet a moment, eyes unfocusing:: ... Taki's hard t'get. He's kinda... hazy. ::blinks and makes a face:: One of 'em's... kinda angry. An' the other's just freaking crazy.

Fuji: ... Hazy? *doesn't like the sound of any of that, and parks the van on the side of the street*

Ryoma: I dunno... s'the best way to put it. He's not really... thinkin' in whole sentences. But he's not crazy like the one of 'em is. ::frowns - crazy people can't be good to deal with:: You wanna get him out now, don't you.

Fuji: *concerned* I do. *unbuckles his seat belt and gets out of the van, sure to lock it after Echizen's gotten out as well* *approaches the building, looks up* In there?

Ryoma: ::looks up, letting his internal senses guide him - points to the third-story window:: Up there. With the light on. They're all awake.

Fuji: I don't know if I can get us up that high safely. *glances at the door* In there, though.

Ryoma: ... I could, but from the outside. ::follows Fuji's gaze:: Heh... the door's prolly better. But I don't think just marchin' in there's a good idea... ::eyes Fuji, expecting him to have a plan. Maybe.::

Fuji: Pizza delivery? *chuckles*

Ryoma: ... You're not serious. ::gives him a look, despite the fact that he could make it look like they have a pizza:: That's not gonna do us any good after the initial five seconds.

Fuji: No, I'm not. *sighs -- they're so close, he's not going to lose for want of a way inside, not when he can teleport.* I'm going to try it. *steadies himself and opens a portal*

Ryoma: ::doesn't think this is a really good idea - or, at least, not from down here:: Would it be easier f'you could see into the room?

Fuji: It would...

Ryoma: ... Just take me with you in there. Doesn't do me any good f'you go in an' get yourself knocked out or whatever. ::Takes Fuji's forearm - more to silently tell him not to yell - and slowly lifts them up off the ground, positioning them just below the window so Fuji can look in without being spotted::

Fuji: *keeps quiet, and glances in, noting the layout of the apartment -- he can't see Taki from here, but there are two others, who appear appropriately ... distracted. It's a good chance.* *reopens the portal from up here, taking Echizen with him*

Ryoma: ::orients himself as quickly as possible when they come out the other end. He assumes Fuji will go for Taki and turns to the other two - one brunette and one with white hair - and doesn't wait for them to react before releasing a mental shockwave that should stun them for a good few seconds::

Fuji: *already knows the layout of the room, thankfully, but looks around again to see if he can spot Taki, and spots him lying face-down on a couch in the corner -- he goes to him, but he's not waking up*

Yagyuu: *disoriented -- where the hell did these people come from, so suddenly? -- the shockwave confuses him and blurs his vision, and by the time he rights himself again he's cursing the precious seconds that he lost*

Ryoma: ::glances quickly back at Fuji, seeing he's going for Taki and figuring he won't have to keep the other two busy too long before Fuji gets himself and Taki out of there. The disorientation seems to be wearing off as one of the two comes at him, but he has other tricks up his sleeve::

Yagyuu: *sees Niou heading for the younger one, and it occurs to him that this should be ironic, but he can't place why -- no matter; he knows his target's the other one, the one trying to take away their charge*

Fuji: *tries to help Taki up, but he's dead weight; it's no use -- even if he were to open a portal here there was no guarantee that they wouldn't be followed* *defends against his attacker as best he can*

Ryoma: ::the one he's facing has gotten enough trick shots in that he realizes... solid things don't stop him. With a thought, he snaps his opponent up in one of Sakuno's forcefields - that seems to hold him (and he doesn't like it) and Ryoma can turn his attention to the one advancing on Fuji:: Hey - **Fuji close your eyes** ::blinds him with a flash::

Fuji: *catches the message and does as told, and it's enough to disorient the shapeshifter further -- enough to let him open a portal, at least*

Yagyuu: *Not happy, unsheathes one of his hidden knives, and tries, as best he can, to stop the thief -- nobody's getting away until they've gotten their information* *pleased when he feels he's gotten someone after all*

Fuji: *cries out in pain as the knife digs into his skin -- not too deep, he hopes, but he can feel himself bleeding, and bleeding bad, and Taki's still not awake, but at least they managed to get through the portal*

Ryoma: ::eyes the one who just threw the knife - from the sound of it, he hit Fuji:: Hope you don't like that window. ::lets Momo's power wash over him as he heads for the window - it's closer than the door - prepared to barrel through it. He can catch himself with his TK before he hits the ground::

Fuji: *already on the ground, but still very wounded, watches Echizen flying out the window -- figuratively speaking this time*

Ryoma: ::manages to catch himself about halfway to the ground, righting himself and landing closer to Fuji, brushing bits of glass off his skin. He knows the other is injured – there’s blood on the pavement:: How bad is it? ::glances at the building before looking to Fuji, eyes scanning for the wound; there’s no way the forcefield on the first captor held through that stunt::

Fuji: Take him. Get him in the van. *fishes for his keys with his left hand, holds them out*

Ryoma: ::takes Taki and then the keys from Fuji and manages to get the older boy into the back of the van - he's totally unresponsive (and his mind is too). He turns back to Fuji:: We gotta get outta here. ::looks up to the building again, knowing that the two captors are probably on their way downstairs now::

Fuji: I know. *pushes himself to his feet with his good arm; at least he can walk* Can you drive?

Ryoma: ... Yeah. Fuck. You need a bandage. ::pulls a strip off his shirt and hands it to Fuji:: Don't bleed all over the seat. ::Helps Fuji to the van - he can bandage himself while Ryoma drives. He just wants to be out of here::

Fuji: Thanks. *tries as best he can to bandage himself, trying in vain to will the pain away* *checks back on Taki; he's murmuring something so he's at least alive but he's still too out of it* Just go.

Ryoma: ::doesn't have to be told that twice. He heads down the street - glad he was at least mostly paying attention to the turns on the way here - and glances at Fuji every once in a while on the way back. He seems to be all right - bleeding but not in danger of anything worse. He doesn't know what's up with Taki, but there's nothing he can do. He pulls up outside the infirmary and helps Fuji out first:: You want me t'carry you both?

Fuji: Just him, I can manage.

Ryoma: ::nods, opening the van door and pulling Taki out. He's actually a little glad - everything is starting to catch up with him, and though he can synch Momo again, he's still getting awfully tired. Helping Taki walk is useless - he just picks him up and follows Fuji into the infirmary, planning to leave as soon as the other two are there. He's not injured and he wants to go to bed::

Fuji: *lets the night staff help him in, then indicates Taki -- he explains that he doesn't know exactly what happened to him, but he needs more attention than he does right now, then turns back to Echizen* ... Thank you.

Ryoma: ::hangs back, determinedly avoiding the doctors; he glances at Fuji, expression softening just a little:: Yeah. ::runs a hand through his hair - he's tired now. More tired than he thought possible:: I'm goin' to bed. ::ducks out and heads for the dorms, doing his best to look like he's fine before the doctors make him come back.

sneaky Fuji to go while Shishido's in the middle of his class.

He won't be amused with Fuji though when he finds out.
