Summary: AU timeline. Oshitari makes a break for it. From his own house. …pity his bodyguards are good. ;D

It wasn't sneaking out, he told himself as he padded quietly to the door.

Really. It was just that Akira and the twins would likely object to him going out to track down this 'Saeki' person.

Yuushi glanced back along the hallway, the side door just a couple of feet ahead. He didn't need their protection constantly, and certainly nothing could happen to him on a quick taxi ride to the address he'd pinpointed the late Saeki's double to be. ISP trackers were such cunning little things, to be sure. All he'd had to do was keep the other talking over their journals for a bit.

Of course, he wasn't completely naive. Not after that strange, spontaneous attempt by another mutant to kidnap and hold him for whatever reasons. He was a little uneasy about his Father's one-shot derringer strapped to his forearm, but it would be more effective a deterrent than one of Akira's knives. If only he could use his own power to help himself...but on the rare occurrences that it worked when he commanded, it crippled him with a migraine almost directly after.

Seeing that the coast seemed to be clear, he crept to the door, carefully punching in the code that would grant him the fingerprint panel that would verify he was Oshitari Yuushi and unlock the bolts and let him out.

Ah...yes. This was a feeling that Atsushi had missed from his time on the streets with Ryou. It was that shivering heart-flutter that started in the chest and shimmered up his spine. His head tilted and he felt a smile curve into existence. Atsushi had a funny feeling that if he weren't currently a 'professional' bodyguard, he'd be a professional stalker.

By god, Atsushi loved sneaking up on people.

With one ear pressed to the door, Atsushi listened. The younger half of the Kisarazu twins slowly wrapped his hand around the door handle, his other hand hovering lightly over the already-active fingerprint panel on his side of the door. He was originally listening for footsteps, but then realized that it was pointless - he could hear the sound of a keycode, and the sliding metal of the other fingerprint scanner.

Atsushi relaxed his hold on his powers, draining dark, black smoke into the air surrounding him. He pressed his hand to the panel and quickly pulled the door open once his identity was verified. The motion of the door sucked his smoke into the next hallway, and Atsushi moved a bit of it aside to see who he'd just sprung his presence on.

"Why hello, oniisan~"

Waving at the sudden plume of smoke that hit him the instant the door opened, Yuushi coughed and jumped back a step at Atsushi's voice.

He should have known to check where this particular twin was creeping before he made this attempt. He knew better. "...Atsushi-kun." He carefully evened out his voice and raised an eyebrow, the very picture of someone who wasn't leaving the house unattended. "Out making your rounds of terror, I see...this door seems to work..." He trailed off, glancing over the younger twin's head outside before making a few approving noises.

"But you missed all the other doors, niisan."

Kisarazu Ryou peered around the corner, still at the far end of the hall where he'd been watching Oshitari Yuushi key the lock. He'd been watching the elder mutant, in fact, since he'd first notice him checking in on Ryou's practice -- quietly.

As if not to be noticed.

Silly niisan. He should have known that the one way to get a Kisarazu's attention was to do something you didn't want noticed.

Ryou had not given any indication that he'd even noticed the other slip out of his study, or heard the door to the nearby room that Ryou used for kata practice slide open, then shut. He had been lost in practice, after all, and it took little effort to pretend that his concentration hadn't been interrupted. However, once the door shut, Ryou had dropped his practice katana and grabbed the real one, quietly exiting the room on bare feet to follow Oshitari as he made his way soundlessly through the house.

If Atsushi hadn't been at the servants' door, Ryou might have been content to follow his niisan to at least the front gate before calling sensei on the cell phone he had tucked in the pocket of his jeans. Still, this was good too, and the eldest twin leveled a pout at his employer. "You didn't check the front door. Or the back."

Or any other door that Kamio-sensei would have seen him leave by.

Stepping into the hall, Atsushi closed the door behind him and leaned back against it. "I'm sure that's where he was going next, Ryou~ Oniisan is quite thorough, you know." He smiled at his brother and then at Oshitari.

He'd been expecting an escape attempt, though stumbling on it was quite accidental this time. He wasn't surprised to see Ryou following their charge, though, - one of them usually did, if they weren't doing it at the same time. Though, if he had wanted to sneak out without his bodyguards noticing, he probably would have had better luck with...well, maybe the chimney...

Oh yes. Quite thorough. Yuushi could agree with that.

He'd been thorough enough to pick the absolute best when it came to bodyguards. Much to his chagrin at times. Now he was just as thoroughly boxed in and caught red-handed. One part of him was vastly amused at this--he certainly never regretted taking in the two mutant brothers from Chiba. He enjoyed their mischief and humor and how they'd so quickly and effortlessly become part of the family.

But, another part of him was cranky and internally rolling its eyes at himself for being careless and stupid enough to attempt to leave with them in the house. One twin on his own was clever enough to keep an eye on him without seeming to. Together...he'd been a little too optimistic and sure of himself to bother trying.

Then again...

"Very well...since I'm found out. I wasn't just verifying that the door worked properly", he admitted. "I had a spontaneous urge to...interrupt Akira's run...." He trailed off, letting the innuendo hang in the air.

The carpet was soft under the balls of Ryou's bare feet as the eldest twin stepped forward, his head tilted to the side. It was a good story, after all, and he did have to respect his niisan for trying. But Oshitari sneaking out of his study and quietly opening the door to his practice?

Did not add up with a horny Niisan going to look for Sensei.

Ryou kept his sword in his left hand as he approached the elder mutant, eyes running critically over him. Nothing about the slacks the other wore nor his white button-down shirt were out of the ordinary. Even the jacket was normal on Oshitari's frame. Which didn't prevent the eldest twin from tucking his sheathed sword up under his arm and grabbing one forearm, tugging it towards himself, and pushing the jacket sleeve back.

He glanced down at the tiny gun strapped there, then up at his niisan.

"...I don't think that's a sex toy, niisan."

A gun. How interesting. "Perhaps he's made a new game to play, Ryou~" He left the door and drifted to his brother's side. He pushed his black jacket away from his side, sticking his thumbs into the pseudo-pockets of his striped dress pants. His smoke followed, clinging to his clothing and swirling around him. He pushed it away from his torso and face, forcing it to drape away from him like a cloak. No need to cloud the hallway visibility for no reason.

"And if so, it must be a quick one..." Atsushi tilted his head as he looked up at Oshitari; he smiled, but his eyes were serious. "Or a no-holds-barred game. And if it's the latter...perhaps we should play, too."

Yuushi's lips pressed into a thin line of disapproval as he leveled his own look down at Atsushi. "There's no need to go quite that far, Atsushi-kun", he murmured reproachfully.

His hands slid into his pants pockets. He was found out, and he was out of arguments that weren't a direct contradiction of what he'd hired them to do. Still, the words tumbled out of his mouth.

"It was just a simple drive back and forth."

Ryou released Oshitari's arm as the other pulled back, and tipped his own head curiously at the elder mutant. "If it were simple, niisan wouldn't be sneaking about like this," he pointed out. "With a gun."

An admittedly silly gun, at that. What was the point of just firing one bullet? What if you missed and didn't have a back-up?

But...niisan had a gun on him. Ryou frowned.

"Niisan doesn't carry a gun unless he thinks something might happen," Ryou continued, pulling his sword out from under his arm and holding the shaft of the sheath easily in his right hand. "Something where he might need it. And if he thinks he might need a weapon, then he probably shouldn't be going by himself to begin with."

After inclining his head in apology to Oshitari, Atsushi started another of his favorite ways to pass time - the Waiting Game. Clearly, Yuusan had been caught, and clearly he was up to something. (Not that there was ever a time where someone in the house wasn't up to something.) He linked his hands together behind his head and watched the exchange between his niisan and his oniisan.

"It was a precautionary measure", Yuushi grumbled. Clearly, he wasn't going to win this. Atsushi was clearly letting Ryou have the floor on this one, and Ryou had the tendency of wielding logic as good if not better than Yuushi himself.

And then, just like that, he laughed. He wasn't going to win, right? And did he really want to? "All right, so you've both caught me. And you've more than made your point. Now then...someone's going to have to inform the taxi waiting at the gate..."

"A precautionary measure would have been to tell someone where you were going," was Ryou's soft counter. Though even as he spoke, the corners of his lips turned up into a small smile. "And I already tested the gate house. I was just waiting for you to get outside so I could call Sensei." But Atsushi had blocked Oshitari's exit, even without them planning for it. Which worked just as well too, in Ryou's opinion. Because his little brother was brilliant like that.

They'd won.

This round.

It didn't mean that Oshitari wasn't going to try to sneak out again. But that was what made things interesting.

"You asked us to take care of you, and so we are, Oniisan~" Atsushi smiled sweetly, glinting a mischievous smile at him. "You keep us on our toes, too, so it's all fair all around, yes?"

"It seems fair to me," Ryou agreed, smiling at his little brother. "And besides, niisan knows how much Sensei worries if he takes off by himself. Or at least doesn't tell anyone where he's going."

And a worried Sensei?

Wasn't fun to deal with in Ryou's estimation. If anything, the speed-enhanced redhead managed to get faster and more aggressive when he was worried about his lover's whereabouts. So really. It was just easier all around if Atsushi and he kept track of Oshitari's whereabouts. And if that meant playing dirty and following the other when he didn't want to be followed...so be it.

Besides, it wasn't like niisan didn't try to sneak out on a regular basis, or succeed at least part of the time.

"Yes, yes...really now, you can both stop rubbing it in." Yuushi chuckled depreciatingly at himself. He let an arm slide over Atsushi's shoulders, just checking the urge to scrub his knuckles over the younger twin's head. They really were like the two little brothers he'd never had. Right down to annoyingly tagging along behind him. But he could never stay mad or annoyed at them, no matter what.

"So...now that my plans are foiled for the day, which one of you is going to keep me entertained?" He smiled and nodded at Ryou, raising his other arm so that the elder twin could move to his other side and cuddle. "I haven't practiced my fencing in awhile. Shall we see if I can still defeat you both at the same time?"

Atsushi leaned against Yuushi with a smile, automatically reaching out for his brother behind his back. "Of course! But maybe we'll beat you~this time." He shot a look at his twin, barely trying to bite down on a grin. "Yes, Ryou~?"

Ryou slipped under Oshitari's raised arm, fitting himself against his other side. Really, Oshitari just gave up too easy sometimes, he thought, though that was just how niisan was. "We might be able to," he agreed, his arm curling around the elder mutant's back and his gloved fingers finding his brother's hand. He grinned in return, eyes glinting mischievously as they herded the elder mutant out the backdoor towards the gym. "We've been practicing, after all."
