Summary: Sengoku and Kaidoh go on a little ice cream date.

Kaidoh headed for the common room, still feeling a bit sore but at least better than he had yesterday. The soreness was still there, ever-present, but he hoped it would go away soon. And Sengoku-san's offer of ice cream sounded really nice, so he couldn't possibly turn the other boy down. The redhead had said they could meet here, before they headed out, so he hoped he wasn't late - he was still moving a little slowly, but he'd tried to leave the library early to make it here on time.

When he arrived, he breathed a small sigh of relief - Sengoku-san was there, but he didn't look annoyed or like he'd been waiting a long time. Kaidoh approached the other, offering him a small smile despite the aches in his joints. "Hey," he greeted the other, "I'm ready to, um, go now, if you are."

Sengoku was actually busying himself with a magazine he'd found lying around, idly looking up that day's horoscope. But when he heard someone approach him, he glanced up over the top of the page, and gave the bony mutant in front of him a wide smile. "You came~!" he crooned over the boy, as if he half expected to be stood up. Throwing the magazine off to the side, he sidled up to Kaidoh and held out his arm, expecting the other mutant to link arms with him.

Kaidoh blinked as the other bounded to his side and held out an arm. "Um..." Very carefully, he slid an arm into the other's, hoping that's what he meant... "B-be careful. Just because I have an image inducer on doesn't mean I'm not, um, sharp..." He hoped the other mutant wouldn't accidentally scrape himself as they turned to head out the door. "Do you, um, know where the nearest ice cream parlor is?" He knew of a couple places, but if the other had something in mind, they should do that. He didn't really mind, either way.

"Oh, don't be such a worry-wort~" he sang at Kaidoh and tightening his hold on the boy as if to prove his point. "I'll just get a big band-aid if anything happens." Sengoku grinned at the mutant attached to his arm as they headed outside. "There's a parlor just a few blocks away from here, actually!" He poked at the other's arm. "What's your favorite kind of ice cream, anyway?"

Kaidoh seriously doubted a band-aid would really help if he were to scrape Sengoku-san, but he did his best to push that worry out of his mind and consciously try to keep anything sharp away from the other's arm. He thought he knew which one Sengoku meant, and nodded, still letting the other lead the way, for the most part. It was really nice outside - a bit on the hot side, really, but that was to be expected, in the middle of July. He had to think a moment about the question, though. "I... I guess I like chocolate. And... um, green tea ice cream, that's really good." He only liked certain sweet flavors, though the ones he liked, he liked very much. "Um... how about you?"

"If I had my way, I'd mix all~ the flavors together! Now that would have to be one good flavor, don't you think?"

Kaidoh thought about that a moment. "Um... I guess... but what about the fish flavors? Those too?" He wasn't sure they would go so well with chocolate, after all... Though Sengoku-san did seem a little eccentric, now and then... so maybe he'd like that kind of flavor... it did seem to fit with what Kaidoh knew of him.

"Mm, to tell you the truth, I haven't tried any of those yet~ the shop here doesn't sell them! Maybe we should complain to them~" he joked lightly, nudging playfully into Kaidoh's side.

Kaidoh jumped a little as Sengoku nudged him, but the other didn't appear hurt so he tried to relax. "Oh... um, well, there must be a shop around here that sells them," he suggested - he wasn't a very big fan of the fish-flavored ice cream, himself, but some people seemed to like it quite a lot. "You'll have to try it sometime... I've had a few of the flavors." He could see the ice cream shop just up the block and tried to decide what kind he would get...

Sengoku's brow rose, clearly impressed by Kaidoh's daring move to taste fish flavored ice cream. "If Kaidoh-chan suggests that I should try it, then I definitely should!" He made a mental note of it before turning his attention back onto the other mutant. "But in any case, you're not going to get just chocolate or green tea today, right?"

"Um... well, I just meant... it's worth a try, once," Kaidoh said, blushing a little. "But... um... not chocolate or green tea?" Well, he'd been thinking about maybe trying something else, but what else should he get? "Um... do you have any suggestions?" Maybe when he saw some of the other flavors in the store, he'd get a few ideas. But right now, he wasn't sure what he should get... at least, that would be 'not plain' enough to satisfy Sengoku-san.

"Mm..." Sengoku hummed thoughtfully. He didn't think Kaidoh would be one to have everything mixed together in giant vat of ice cream, so he thought of the next, more normal flavor. "I think a fudge swirl would be good. With whipped cream, almonds, a pinch of sprinkles, and a cherry right on top! Cones are great and all~ but they're so plain by themselves. Whatcha think?" He gently elbowed Kaidoh's side, feeling a little poke from his bone.

Kaidoh jumped a little, hoping Sengoku was all right. But the other didn't seem to be hurt or complaining, so he hoped it was all right. Now, though, considering the large number of toppings he'd suggested... "I, um... that sounds like an awful lot to put on top of ice cream...." he said; though really, fudge swirl sounded all right. "Maybe... with just one or two of those on top?" he thought he could handle that.

They arrived at the shop and Kaidoh pushed the door open, holding it for Sengoku as the other followed him in. There was a decent number of people in here, it being a hot summer afternoon, after all, but none of them seemed to notice them as they walked in. Which was good - just the way Kaidoh liked it. He followed Sengoku over to the counter, peering at all the flavors, fudge swirl among them. "Or... um, is there anything else we should get?"

Sengoku stared at the large menu of ice cream flavors, sundaes, and milk shakes just behind the register, brow perked slightly in thought. His eyes landed on a particular label, and a tiny grin twitched on his lips (not to mention his mouth was watering). He tugged Kaidoh a little closer and immediately jabbed his finger in the direction of the sundae.

"Banana split! We should -definitely- get that one~ We can share it, too!" He grinned slyly at Kaidoh and elbowed him again. "Perfect for our little date~"

Kaidoh blushed - but it wasn't really a date, he knew. Sengoku-san was just friendly like that. "A... um, that sounds good to me." He liked bananas, after all, and there might be a lot on a banana split, but if they were going to share it, he could eat it. Just because he didn't eat ice cream often didn't mean he wasn't extremely fond of it. He just tried to be good about his diet and not eat things like that too often. But today was definitely an exception. "Okay..."

Kaidoh watched as Sengoku stepped up to the counter an ordered, unsure if he should offer any money of his own. "I can help pay..." he offered.

He waved to bony mutant off, indicating that he would pay for sundae. There were, after all, some perks to having a large stash of money from underaged gambling under one's bed. "I've got it, I've got it~." Sengoku promptly paid the cashier with a crisp bill, and from there, they witnessed the creation of Heaven. Or... well, something that was a very -close- substitute for Heaven.

A long dish was immediately brought out onto the counter behind the register. Three large, round scoops of vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate ice cream were laid out on the dish one after another, and they were slathered in pineapple, strawberry, and fudge sauce. An unhealthy dose of artificially white whipped cream was then spiraled on top of all three scoops, which was then heckled with bits of almonds and rainbow sprinkles. A yellow banana was peeled and split right down the middle, forming two symmetrical halves, and each was placed on either side of the triple scoops, cushioning them. Finally, a nearly -glowing- red cherry was ever so carefully placed on its cushion of white, just above the pastel pink scoop.

By the time the long dish was slid over their way, Sengoku had long since been drooling in anticipation. He promptly unhooked himself from Kaidoh's arm, and snatched the dish away from the counter when he saw that its maker was staring at it much too fondly. He hid it away from the pouting sundae maker and leaned in close to whisper to Kaidoh, "Let's find a place to sit. Grab the spoons!"

Kaidoh alternately watched Sengoku and the server as their sundae was built - both were equally as interesting, he had to admit. Ken-kun always got excited when Kaidoh brought him cookies, but banana splits seemed to have the same effect on Sengoku-san. When the creation was finally complete, he took the two spoons from the worker behind the counter with a quiet word of thanks and followed the other as the redhead sauntered off (carefully!) and sat down at the table he'd chosen, handing over one spoon and looking down at the mountain of ice cream sitting between them, almost not sure where he wanted to start.

"Thank you," he said quietly to Sengoku - he didn't want to seem ungrateful, after all, not after the other had bought all of this! - and took a small bit of ice cream, eating it slowly. It was wonderful - some of the best ice cream he'd had in a long while, and it seemed Sengoku was enjoying himself as well, as the other dug right in on the other side of the table. "This is really good," Kaidoh commented, smiling shyly as they worked their way slowly through the sundae.

Even if the sundae wasn't quite Heaven, Sengoku's taste buds were utterly tricked into thinking they were in Heaven. The half a spoonful of strawberry ice cream he had was cool, and melted right on his tongue, sending shivers down his spine as the taste exploded in his mouth.

...He had to do this more often.

He grinned at Kaidoh, handing him a napkin. "If it was just me here, I would've demolished this thing by now! And then I would've gotten sick~" His grin softened into a cheerful smile. "Thanks for coming with me. It's nice having company once in a while." Sure, Ryuhana was a good school with lots of people, but it got pretty boring sometimes, and now with all the political... things happening, things got even more boring; everyone was too busy fussing over such silly things as registration! And not to mention, the "Cure."

He eyed Kaidoh for a moment, wondering if he really did take this cure thing.

Kaidoh was really enjoying this - he couldn't remember the last time he'd splurged on something like ice cream, and he made a mental note to bring Ken-kun here someday so they could do the same.

He shook his head a little as the other thanked him - "No, it's no big deal. Um, getting sick would've been bad, right?" He somehow doubted Sengoku-san was joking, too - he seemed really into this. And it was nice, to get out - he didn't really leave campus much anymore, aside from a few trips with Ken-kun - the whole image inducer incident had worried him for a good long time, but he thankfully hadn't had any mishaps with it since then... All the same, he glanced quickly at the device - his "watch" - to make sure it was far, far away from anything that might cause it to malfunction. "I, um, need to get out more, anyway. Thanks for inviting me."

His eyes slid over to the watch, giving it a curious little glance. He'd seen Kaidoh all bony-like at school, but whenever he was out like this, he looked pretty normal. Sengoku idly wondered if Kaidoh could will the bones away.

He smiled at his shy senpai (it was hard to believe Kaidoh was his senpai at times), and he offered him one of the slices of banana. "It's nice to be out, isn't it? It's boring to stay inside all day and it makes you tired! Plus, you can do some people watching." He grinned slyly at Kaidoh and subtly pointed at a waitress with a short skirt, bending over to clear a table. One could just barely see her white panties, spotted with pink little pigs.

"Thanks," Kaidoh said, taking the offered banana - he really liked fruit, and bananas were some of the best. "I guess it is nice... I just get worried that... well, you know, someone will bump me wrong and, um, hurt themselves..." It hadn't happened often, but he'd been jostled before and people tended to give him very unhappy looks when they'd gotten poked the wrong way by something they couldn't see. And he still ripped his clothes on a near-regular basis - but at least the image inducer covered that, as well.

He followed the other's hand and saw the waitress - she was kind of cute, but Kaidoh felt a little wrong peeking at her like that; blushing, he glanced the other way. He didn't mind people watching, though - in fact, he liked it. It was actually nice sometimes to see people who were living their lives without problems like his. "Your powers aren't a problem out like this, right?" he asked quietly - he didn't want to be overheard, though everyone here was talking happily and no one seemed very interested in them.

Eyes turning away from the waitress' panties, Sengoku nodded understandingly at the older boy; he did poke around experimentally, but truthfully, he didn't want to get hurt, so he never did.

"I don't think you should get so worried~ well, so worried that you stop going outside. But, what do I know?" he smiled helplessly at Kaidoh. "You're right, my powers aren't much of a problem at all. And well, I look like anyone else," he answered sheepishly. "It must be tough on you."

Kaidoh just glanced down at the banana split for a moment, taking a slow bite. "It just... something bad happened once, is all," he said quietly - even though it had happened a while ago, and Ken had never seemed upset or like he regretted it since it had happened, Kaidoh couldn't forget the looks on all the faces of everyone in the restaurant as they'd thrown things at him and demanded he leave, calling him a monster. But that was over now - he glanced back up at Sengoku, not wanting to let the past ruin the present too much.

"But it's, um, working now," he said, indicating the image inducer with a small nod. "S-so, it's not so bad in the end. I could have it worse." He could be like Ohtori-kun, who was now deaf because he'd been forced to take the cure, against his own will, when Kaidoh had so desperately wanted it, only to find that it wouldn't work for him. "A-at least the cure didn't do too much damage, even if it didn't work." He hoped Sengoku didn't mind that Kaidoh had gone to take it, but then, they probably wouldn't be here if he did.

Oh-hoh~ so he did take it. From all the little posts online from various members, it was oh so subtly hinted that Kaidoh might've done something a tiny bit out of the ordinary, especially in a school that prided in its peculiarities. Well, maybe not so much as the Brotherhood, but that was a different story.

"Mm~ so you did take it, huh?" he asked to clarify, licking some whipped cream off his spoon. His jade eyes lifted to gaze on Kaidoh again, curious. Something bad? He couldn't help but wonder what this 'something bad' was, as it only reminded him of what happened at home. He'd long since figured out that the fire was due to his own abilities somehow.

"And it didn't work?" He tapped his chin thoughtfully. "That must've been disappointing. So much for life changing experiences, huh?" he smiled. "Do you know why it didn't work?"

"Yeah," Kaidoh admitted quietly, but at least the other didn't seem to be disappointed in him. "But... no, it didn't work. They, um, said it had something to do with my healing factor, I think. It reacted, um, badly..." He'd felt terrible when he'd woken up after the ordeal, and in more ways than one. First, he'd actually felt sick for one of the first times in his life, and second, he realized he'd been asleep for days when he'd told Ken he'd be back that night, and the other had been frantic since Kaidoh had essentially disappeared.

"I just, you know, thought it was supposed to work for everyone." Kaidoh shrugged - there wasn't much use in calling the world unfair; that seemed to be the way of things. "It's okay, but I guess it was... well, worth a try." He glanced at Sengoku, a little curious. "So you'd never, um, take it or anything?" He kind of got that feeling, though at least Sengoku was pretty laid back about it.

Sengoku shrugged lightly, putting his spoon down. "Guess they don't know everything after all. I wonder how long they've been work on that cure thingy?" he asked mostly to himself, then wondered how much experimentation they've done. Yeah, it'd be pretty sick to experiment on people who didn't want the cure, but there would always be others who'd willingly take it anyway. He eyed Kaidoh for a moment, wondering if he'd be one of those people.

"Well~ kinda sounds like your body didn't like the cure. And if your body didn't like it, it must be sorta bad, or something's wrong with it. Your body saved you! It deserves a milkshake," he grinned again, sitting back with his arms folded.

"Mm, would I take it? Well, I think I'm okay for now. It's easier to control it, and I'm only having little bouts of bad luck here and there. Maybe if it got totally out of control, I would take it. But we're born with these abilities, so we're meant to have them, right? I really think everything happens for a reason, no matter how unfair it is." He paused, thinking over what he just said, then realized he contradicted himself. "Ehhh... okay, so if my abilities do go out of control, that only means I have to work harder at controlling them!"

"Yeah..." Kaidoh supposed Sengoku had a point - maybe it had been for the better, if his body rejected the cure, but still deep down he sometimes wished it had worked. Maybe someday they'd come out with a new version - one that worked better for mutants who healed themselves. Maybe, then, he could try again.

He nodded at the other's point, though. He supposed that if one had powers like that, where it was mostly a matter of controlling them, it wouldn't be as hard and it'd be easier not to take the cure. "I guess so... mine just aren't quite like that. But it's good that works for you - um, though I can't really imagine what it must be like, being able to control luck." He'd always felt like luck was just something that happened to you, but it must be very different for Sengoku. "What's it like?"

Not like his? Well, at least now he knew Kaidoh couldn't retract his bones or anything like that.

"What's it like? Mm, well, I have a feeling it's going to be really cool but pretty bad at the same time, but I guess that's the same with every mutant," he replied, giving Kaidoh a sheepish smile, knowing his situation. "So far, I'm pretty good with games that depend on luck, like throwing dice. I could probably get better at Poker if I can somehow do the luck thing with something I can't initially touch. Sooo~ I guess I'll be good at gambling when I get these straightened out." He was already pretty lucky with the slots, but he wasn't going to mention that. "I'm pretty sure I could do other things too. But what's going to suck is that it takes all the fun out of them! I like to win, and I want to win~ but I'll definitely win for sure because of these powers. See how boring that is? Plus, I think there's some catch to this luck stuff," he mentioned, thinking back to those years of Hell where he had nothing but bad luck every day at every moment.

Kaidoh nodded, genuinely interested - it sounded pretty neat, for the most part, to be able to win at almost any game. He guessed maybe it took some of the fun out of it, but it might also be pretty nice. "Well... maybe someday you'll, um, be able to control it so you won't always win," he suggested - Sengoku seemed ready and willing to work on that, so Kaidoh didn't see why he couldn't achieve that goal someday. "It must be pretty cool, though... I was only ever pretty good at sports. Board games and stuff, even, I wasn't so good at..." Kaidoh seemed to have a never-ending run of bad luck with most things like that, and he'd long since given up playing board games. Video games were a little different, at least - more like sports, in that they relied on skill and practice, which was something he could do.

He took another few spoonfuls, thinking as the sweet ice cream melted on his tongue. "I think there's a catch for every mutant," he said - he couldn't think of anyone who had all pros and no cons to their powers, though some had more pros and fewer cons than others. And the other way around. "I guess it's just... like that for everyone."

That, he didn't think about, and his brow rose as the thought was received. "Ah hah~ you've got a point right there~ So there definitely is a catch, and not just because I'm a mutant so many people won't like me."

He smiled at Kaidoh, pushing the dish towards him, offering him the rest of the ice cream. "Sports, huh? I used to be pretty good too! ...Then I started to really suck and decided not to hurt myself further by playing more. And now I'm all out of shape!" He knew for certain it was because of his change in luck. He was so very good before the years of Hell; he never missed a goal, basket, or point.

Kaidoh nodded a little. "Well, um, people just don't always like people, no matter who they are." He'd found that out more than once - sometimes it didn't matter if you were a mutant or not; if you were different, people didn't like you. He'd seen it happen on the tennis team and in his classes time after time.

Kaidoh blinked as the bowl was pushed in his direction, but took a few more slow bites of the nearly-gone sundae, interested now. Sengoku used to play sports? "That's cool... er, not the hurting yourself part." He understood that, for sure - his mutation had made it more than a little painful to play tennis, last year. "If you, um, ever wanted to, maybe we could do something - I'm still kind of out of practice, myself." He was much better at tennis again, but it wasn't the only sport he liked, or minded playing, as long as he wasn't in danger of hurting anyone - or the equipment. "Maybe it would help, um, get your powers under control, too?" As long as Sengoku didn't hurt himself, Kaidoh didn't mind losing if the other experienced bouts of very good luck.

"Mm, you've got another point there. But I guess we're just a different kind of different. So much so that they think we're dangerous and all that other stuff~" They could be dangerous, of course, so Sengoku didn't have too much beef against most mutant-haters.

"But in any case~ I'd love to play something! I'll suck for a little bit though. Haven't played anything sporty in a while," he grinned cheekily at Kaidoh. "It could help, I guess. You know, exercise the body and you'll exercise the mind or something like that~ Whatcha wanna play?"

"Yeah... well, all kinds of people are dangerous," Kaidoh said quietly. "Not just mutants." He'd never liked that argument much - people were still people, and mutants were people too, just with different talents. Or appearances. But regardless, everyone was the same inside, and you didn't have to be a mutant to be bad. Or good.

But he brightened when Sengoku agreed to play something. He was teaching Ken tennis, but it would be nice to have more people to play with, as well. "Um... well, anything you want... I mean, I play tennis, but it's not the only thing I can do. Maybe, um, basketball or something, too..." As long as it wasn't volleyball - he was definitely afraid he'd break the ball then. "But, um, don't worry about being bad or good, it's just for fun." He finished the last spoonful of ice cream and gave Sengoku a small smile, glad indeed that he'd agreed to do this.

It was true that any other human could be just a dangerous, but Sengoku could see how mutants could be so intimidating to other people, but he wasn't about to get into any more of that. He merely smiled back at the other mutant, happy that he could at least get a tiny smile from Kaidoh, who always looked so miserable. "Tennis? I could do tennis. It's been a while so I'll be rusty. Go easy on me, okay~?" he half-joked at the other, smiling wide.

He stood from the table and held out his arm again for Kaidoh to grab onto.

"Really? It's okay - I mean, I'm kind of re-learning tennis myself, so... um... yeah." But that sounded like it could be really fun - Kaidoh loved new opponents, no matter how good or bad they were, because it showed him different styles of play and every game he played, good or bad, would help him grow as a player. And maybe if they could find another person, he and Sengoku and Ken-kun could all play doubles...

But he was getting a little ahead of himself. Right now, he nodded, setting the spoon down neatly beside the bowl (and one of the waitresses was already heading this way, to collect their used silverware) and stood, taking Sengoku's arm a little tentatively. "I... um, well, thanks. This was fun."

"I'll need to find my racket then! I think it's still at home." He latched onto Kaidoh and tugged him a little closer. "And we should definitely do this more often!" If one didn't notice, Sengoku hated boredom, and he'd do anything to toss things up a little, even if it meant going on weekly excursions for ice cream, not that that was a bad thing at all.

Waving goodbye to the waitress with the nice panties, Sengoku tugged Kaidoh back outside and towards the school, chattering aimlessly about this and that.

It'd be, um, a test, to see how lucky he could make himself before he hit the ground. :D;;

But no worries, Kaidoh still loves his Ken more than anybody~! <3
