Summary: Atobe and Tezuka meet for lunch, but nothing goes quite as planned.

Atobe: *checks his cellphone for the time and smirks, playing with the charm. He asked Tezuka to lunch by the park, trying to keep their friendship going*

Tezuka: *scowls at the people in his way. They won't listen when he asks them to please move and he won't brush past the for fear of touching them, he really doesn't want to know their life stories. Unfortunately they're also making him late. Luckily they move on before too long and he can pass them with room to spare. Approaching Atobe he inclines his head in both greeting and apology*

Atobe: *smirks slowly and nods, aware of Tezuka's condition and willing to make an exception to his rule about late people.* I ordered your favourite. *pushing a chair out carefully with his foot, he waits for Tezuka to get comfortable, he was careful to choose a quiet, private corner of the cafe where they would not be bothered.*

Tezuka: Thank you *takes his seat and waits to see if there was any particular reason Atobe wanted to meet, not that he minds if there wasn't*

Atobe: You've been away a while, not doing any better? *directs a waiter to pour Tezuka a glass of ice water*

Tezuka: There are people I'd rather not know things about, the Ryuhana students and faculty, for example. That makes practising difficult.

Atobe: Imaginably so. *shudders inwardly at knowing anything about half of those simps at that school* All the same, you haven't been in touch since our fishing trip.

Tezuka: I know. I've been busy.

Atobe: *inwardly pouts* I see.

Tezuka: There was nothing stopping you from contacting me.

Atobe: I was waiting to see if you would make any effort. *has a sip of his water*

Tezuka: *mildly annoyed* I've been working and trying to find somewhere to live. Both leave little time for myself.

Atobe: You left the school? *looks slightly more interested* Why would you do that?

Tezuka: No. But I am trying to find somewhere off campus to keep the school from media attention.

Atobe: Ah, I see...there are some fairly nice flats nearby. You might wish to look into them.

Tezuka: I have been. *pauses to drink for a moment* They're out of my price range.

Atobe: *frowns thoughtfully* Get help from your family.

Tezuka: I'd rather not get them involved.

Atobe: Get a job?

Tezuka: I have one.

Atobe: Get a flat mate.

Tezuka: *frowns* I don't think I could put up with anyone from Ryuhana, and I won't risk living with someone I don't know.

Atobe: *smirks* Well- I'd offer to join you but-

Tezuka: *warily* But?

Atobe: I don't know if we'd do well sharing a place.

Tezuka: What do you mean?

Atobe: *pointed look* You should know as well as I do. Especially since our break up. We are still rebuilding things-

Tezuka: *inclines his head* Aa.

Atobe: *smirks and takes a sip of his water* You understand, of course.

Tezuka: *nods curtly*

Atobe: *rolls his eyes slightly and gives an exasperated sigh*

Tezuka: What?

Atobe: Headache- someone is having a bad day. *he gestures to a woman behind them*

Tezuka: *half-turns to look, but can't do much else* Would you rather go somewhere else?

Atobe: It's fine. *Focuses on Tezuka* So, tell me- what will you do about this housing dilemma then?

Tezuka: *wraps a hand around the water glass, but doesn't lift it* Continue looking until I find somewhere I can afford.

Atobe: It has to do with the press thing- *he locked eyes with his companion, speaking very, very quietly* and you can't control that touch trigger on your visions.

Tezuka: *confused by the subject change for a moment before it sinks in. He nods again, faintly*

Atobe: Wouldn't it be better to be around people so you have to learn to control it, instead of hiding?

Tezuka: *is silent for a long while before finally speaking* That's why we have group training sessions, to learn control around others.

Atobe: *stops him so their meals can be brought out, this is not a subject to breach in public* Because that's realistic training for surviving out here.

Atobe: *pokes at his lunch* M- I suppose that much is true-excuse me...*turns* Just slap him already and scream at him! For God's sake, everyone knows you're thinking it! *watches the woman panic and do just that before storming off, leaving a stunned looking man* *turns back to Tezuka* Where were we?

Tezuka: *raises an eyebrow at the display but doesn't comment on it* Group training and its practicality outside the school.

Atobe: *acts like nothing happened* None of you will last a week if the humans attack, you're fish in a barrel Kunimitsu.

Tezuka: *absently picking at his meal* They're more capable than they're given credit for, for the most part. They've proven it before. *pauses to take a drink* Just because they aren't trained to fight doesn't mean they're defenceless.

Atobe: Against an angry army of humans they do not stand a chance, half of them are so convoluted in the peace talk that they'd welcome their destroyers with open arms.

Tezuka: You would be surprised how many are more practical than that. We won't start the fighting, but we won't sit there and let it happen, either.

Atobe: By then it may be too late. The best way to prevent a conflict is to get rid of- *looks really annoyed with the sobbing man behind him before looking back at Tezuka* is to get rid of those who would sooner get rid of us.

Tezuka: And have people convinced we really are monsters? What good will that do?

Atobe: Monsters? Why no, just the superior species.

Tezuka: *mentally rolls his eyes* Keigo, unless you've avoided the news for the past few months you should know that isn't the common consensus.

Atobe: Not yet. *takes a sip of his drink* The world is changing, and I for one think that the ones who refuse to fight and stand up for what they are will be left to suffer...keep that in mind, Kunimitsu. I do not want you suffering.

Tezuka: *quietly, not quite looking at Atobe* I've seen this war too many times, in too many ways before it's even started. It may be almost inevitable, but I intend to do everything in my power to avoid it.

Atobe: So you understand how important it is to stop it in advance. *keeps getting distracted by things, and trying his best not to* I will not lose you over a stupid war.

Tezuka: *notices Atobe's distraction and is starting to get uncomfortable with how many people there are around now* Perhaps we should leave. We won't resolve our views on the issue any time soon and it's getting too crowded here.

Atobe: Er- yes...that would probably be wise. *Has some troubles with his fields when surrounded by larger groups, and is getting a tension headache* Perhaps if you fail to find a flat mate, we could give it a try...*gets their meals wrapped to go as he is still hungry*
