Summary: Kippei needs Shinji's help for a little training practice.
Kippei decided that if he was going to be doing more of these mission things, he was going to have to improve his control of gravitational fields. Specifically, those odd horizontal ones he'd made by accident that one time with Shinji. Lifting things was no problem, he was used to that. Actually being able to move things by pulling them sideways was another idea altogether. That would be very, very useful--if he could learn to control it as well as the rest.
He'd learned that it was best to practice on big things, because the more mass involved in something the easier it was to affect. Big things generally meant going outside, going somewhere that he had space to work in. Lots of space. Also, preferably somewhere that no one else was around, since he didn't like other people watching him training. Except Shinji. He should take Shinji. Shinji would enjoy it, he thought, and right now Shinji was still a bit cranky and that was still cute, but Kippei wanted to give him something fun to take his mind off it.
"Hey Shin, you want to take a walk with me?" This tended to be code for, lets go out and get away from here and do stuff. Like falling. Only in this case they wouldn't do much falling, if he did it right.
Shinji looked up and barely restrained snapping some random comment that would have made no sense at all, even to Kippei. He was getting tired of being the rain on everyone's parade and while the thought of walking somewhere made him groan, the thought of going and watching Kippei play with his powers was completely the opposite. Not allowing himself to think any more than that, Shinji stood and walked over to wrap his arms tight around Kippei's neck.
"You're doing the walking."
Kippei looked amused; that was a given. "Of course," he answered smugly, lifting Shinji into his arms as he lightened him with a thought, holding him there and nuzzling his hair. He liked having Shinji wrapped around him, back or front--that was half the fun of these walks, because Shinji rarely liked to actually walk. Kippei got to carry him the whole damn way, and that was just cool.
"You want to help me practice?" he asked as he started walking. "Or you just want to watch?"
"I can...me? I can help?" Shinji blinked, a little dazed by the thought, trying to think of anything he could possibly do to help Kippei. "Really?" Maybe he was just teasing? Shinji hoped not and didn't think so but maybe.
"What can I do? I'm kinda useless without powers. And blue." He found it odd, but he was realising that when he was blue he seemed incapable of forgetting the fact. It was all very strange.
Kippei snorted, mostly with amusement. "Yes, you can help. If you trust me not to let you fall, I can practice on you. I need something to move, something big enough to affect easily. A person is about right, but only if you want to."
He wrapped his arms more securely around Shinji and smiled to himself as he kept walking. He knew it was driving Shinji crazy, and he really was sorry about that, but he still loved it that Shinji was blue. He just wished it didn't have such unpleasant side effects.
"You're never useless," he added sternly, kissing Shinji's ear and nipping it lightly with his teeth for emphasis.
"You....you wont drop me," Shinji snorted, somehow convinced that would never happen. He had been inside Kippei's head enough times to know that Kippei just wasnt capable of hurting him, ever. The way Kippei held on, with no fear that he could drop him at all, was enough proof of that. And the way he nipped at his ear was just not the sort of thing he should be doing after suggesting they go out.
"Stop teasing," Shinji demanded. "You're supposed to be walking. I dont wanna walk into a wall yanno."
"I can't walk into a wall," Kippei answered absently, ignoring him and the ground ahead as he nibbled Shinji's ear again, licking the shell of it and sucking briefly. Much more interesting than watching where he was going. "I know where the walls are, I can feel them. Not going to run into anything, and..." his words trailed off, mumbled against Shinji's neck as he kept nuzzling and licking at the skin. Shinji always tasted so good. Even when he was blue.
Shinji gaped, staring at the wall in disbelief. They were walking though the school, somehow avoiding all walls, doors and people and Kippei was making love to his neck. Shinji shivered as cool air hit his wet ear, arms tightening around Kippei's neck.
"Did...did you just...give me a hickey...on my ear?" Was that even possible?
Kippei's laugh rumbled out at the question, warm and affectionately amused, and he tilted his head back a bit to meet Shinji's eyes.
"No," he answered, a slight grin quirking his mouth, "but I was working on giving you one on your neck there." He smirked and bent back to his task, mouthing Shinji's neck where it joined his shoulder and sucking lightly at first, then harder. It was true they were walking through the middle of school, but he doubted anyone was paying that much attention to them, and they were almost out of the building anyway.
"Ki....oh shit...that feels really good! But we're still at school, what if Sakaki sees us, or what if people who arent mutants see us again and think we're weird and try to shoot you again...oh jeez, I'm going to shoot you myself in a minute!" It felt really good, and Shinji had been finding that without his powers sex was both better and worse. It wasn't that it was any different he just seemed to...want it. Before Kippei was even in the room sometimes. Crazy. "You're so weird, smexing a smurf."
Kippei growled, using his teeth now as he bit down on Shinji's shoulder, half a warning and half sheer possessive smugness. Like he cared if anyone saw them, and if anyone tried to shoot him again they were going to get a shock. He'd been thinking about ways to use his powers to combat that, since he really didn't like being defenseless against it. He wasn't entirely sure that it would work, but at least if it didn't it would probably end up killing them instead of him.
The warning was for Shinji. "Stop saying that. You are not a smurf. Smurfs are not sexy at all. And they have bad fashion sense and they're short and fat. You are cool, and sexy, and most definitely not a smurf, so stop talking shit about my boyfriend." He growled again for good measure, and kissed Shinji's mouth hard before he could start arguing.
Uh...hey? Shinji would have argued but he had a mouth full of tongue and Kippei and yum and it was distracting as all hell so that when he did have air in his lungs again he had forgotten what he was meant to be arguing about.
"You're so sexy," was what came out instead. Shinji smiled and nuzzled against Kippei's throat, tempted to leave a matching mark on Kippei's throat. "You're the coolest, and you're really sexy and you really don't like smurfs, which is good because papa smurf as evil."
Kippei would have sighed impatiently if he wasn't distracted by Shinji's efforts. Why were they still talking about smurfs? He couldn't figure out why the topic had ever come up in the first place, but apparently everyone's first thought was that blue equaled smurf. Well, not in Kippei's mind... blue meant Shinji, everything about Shinji, all shades of blue. It was just perfect that now he actually looked it.

Well, not in Kippei's mind... blue meant Shinji, everything about Shinji, all shades of blue. It was just perfect that now he actually looked it.
But Shinji was still sucking on his neck, so Kippei closed his eyes and tilted his head and barely noticed when they threaded their way through the doors, heading outside.
Mmmm, there was a dark mark on Kippei's neck now and they were outside and heading toward the treeline and that was perfect; Shinji could have Kippei all to himself for the whole afternoon, though he did realise, a little belatedly, that he had volunteered to let Kippei physically control him for the afternoon, which was fine, but the thought of being stuck floating when he desperately wanted to kiss him was a little depressing, so he decided to make up for it now.
"Mmmm where are we going this time?"
"Somewhere that we've never been," Kippei replied, eyes dancing with laughter as he teased. He smirked. "You'll see."
They were outside now, so it took a little more of his concentration in the background to sense where things were and keep going straight, but at least until they got completely away from buildings he was good, and he could keep kissing Shinji instead of watching where he was going, which was very, very good.
"Mmmm," he murmured reluctantly when he finally lifted his head. Why were they doing this again instead of staying home and doing a lot more than kissing? ...Right, practice. The place they were going was in a slightly different direction than they'd gone before, and he turned to follow the treeline when they reached it instead of heading in. Some way past the wooded area there was a field, or maybe a meadow, he wasn't sure he'd know the difference, but a big wide open flat area that would be perfect for this, or so he hoped.
Somewhere they had never been? For some reason the thought appealed to Shinji, in a way it never had before. He used to think of new places as frightening; the possibility of them being filled with people and thoughts he didn't want to hear a little terrifying. But Kippei had a way of taking away fear, and to top it off he didn't have his powers back enough for it to make a difference. They were going somewhere new, and knowing Kippei somewhere they could be alone. Shinji found himself smiling.
"Never....that's a long time."
"No it's not," Kippei replied absently. He didn't remember precisely where this was, but he knew he'd know the way when he saw it. They should be almost there. Like, around that bend in the treeline or something. He kept walking, resting his cheek against Shinji's hair and smiling faintly as he realized what he'd said. Well, not this time.
"It depends on what kind of never it is. If I said never again, that would be a long time. Never before is the same as not yet, and that's not that long. And never, like never ever EVER, that is no time at all, because it means it doesn't happen, end of story." He nodded firmly, and turned his head to place a brief kiss on Shinji's temple.
"So never doesnt mean anything then, since it cant mean anything unless I say it with something else? That's sort of weird. Hmm...I'm never ever ever going to be without you again." He smirked at that, and kissed the corner of Kippei's mouth around a bright smile.
"....Are we there yet?"
"It means never as in not ever, at no time, so it isn't a length of time unless you say it with something else, but it still means never." He frowned slightly. And never with again implied that it had happened at some point, in the past. Which wasn't cool when you were talking about Shinji without him; but it was in the past and never again meant NOT ever again, and the not part was good.
"Never again," he murmured in agreement, kissing Shinji one more time before he let him go. Dismissing the question of never and what it meant, he looked around in satisfaction. Yeah, just about right.
"We are here," he breathed, his own grin curling up as he looked around at the wide, open grassy place that might be a field or a meadow or neither, but the important thing was that there was space. Lots of space.
Still grinning from Kippei's words, Shinji was a little startled by the grin that came out on Kippei's face and the soft words. They were there? He glanced backward over his shoulder and gasped a little. This place was huge; acres of just...grass and stuff. Shinji stared at it in disbelief, glancing back at the treeline and wondering who the hell owned it and why he'd never heard of it. He looked at Kippei then, his grin turning into a smile again and he kissed him hard and fast on the mouth.
"This place is incredible! But all the places you take me are incredible, and big and empty with no people and you're...so...perfect." Shinji stammered to a halt, feeling rather silly all of a sudden, clinging to Kippei like a child. He very carefully let go of his deathlike grip on Kippei's shoulders and neck and would have stepped down, but he was floating and he couldn't control that.
"Um...when you're ready?"
Kippei smirked at him, hands resting on Shinji's hips to hold him in place. He loved it when Shinji was floating, like he should be, weightless and free and yes, perfect. So perfect.
"I am always ready," he answered, arching an eyebrow that did nothing to make the smirk any less smug. "The question is, are you?" He studied the area with a critical eye, debating the best way to go about this. He had developed a few exercises over the years to help him focus, but they all centered on the vertical attraction to the ground; more or less up and down and floating and little else.
Well, they could start with that. "Come on," he said suddenly, tugging Shinji with him toward the middle of the open space.
Shinji let him tug him along, feeling sort of stupid floating around while someone else pulled him along but maybe it was okay because no one was here except Kippei and he didn't seem to mind.
"Am I ready for what exactly? The way you said that made it sound sort of weird and scary and while I dont think you actually know how to be weird and scary, I dont think I really want to see you try that." Shinji put out a hand and let the grass rustle against his palm as he floated by. It was really nice out here and he was glad he came. He also got to help Kippei; it was a damn good day.
Kippei just looked at him over his shoulder with one eyebrow lifted. "I can't be weird and scary?" He wasn't sure if he was flattered or faintly insulted, but he thought he was amused. Shinji hadn't ever seen him do anything particularly scary, he supposed, or when he was really truly angry about something. That might be just as well... Kippei didn't really want Shinji to be afraid of him. But there was nothing wrong with teasing...
"How's this for scary?" he asked, grinning as he turned back to face Shinji and lifted him easily, getting a good grip and then throwing him into the air, sending him tumbling over his head in a surprisingly fast upward fall. Except not falling, because he was weightless and there was nothing pulling him.... hmm, something to think about later.
At the moment, Kippei's laughter rumbled out of him, warm and deep and full-throated as he pushed off hard against the ground and followed Shinji into the air.
A startled yell escaped Shinji as he tumbled upward, the sky seeming to zoom closer even though that was impossible because the sky wasn't a solid thing, but jesus Kippei was insane! He felt only a little better when he saw Kippei floating up toward him, at a much more sedate pace. He glared, but there wasnt much heat to it. He liked floating; liked not being tied to the ground and Kippei was the only one who could give him that.
"Five out of ten."
Kippei looked amused and highly pleased with himself. "Only five?" He caught Shinji's ankle and pulled, sending Shinji sliding past him until they were face to face, though their bodies were angled in widely different directions. Shinji's feet stuck out nearly sideways, and Kippei, having come straight up, was still more or less vertical. Kippei kissed him anyway, quick and hard, and then pushed off against him, causing them to drift back away from each other.
"Stay there," he told Shinji unnecessarily, and what he really meant was, wait. He frowned in concentration, trying to remember what this had felt like before. He didn't really know how he did it, but that shouldn't matter. He did most things by instinct, anyway. He focused on a point behind Shinji and pulled, or that was how it felt, creating a force just strong enough to tug Shinji farther in that direction. He grinned triumphantly. Yeah, not that hard.
"Kippei?" Shinji watched him dubiously. "What are you...Kippei?" What did he meant wait? He was concentrating on something; Shinji could tell by the look on his face. Then he felt a familiar tug and another unruly sqwark escaped him. Gasping, Shinji glared as he came to a halt and stuck his tongue out.
"Show off. Well...can we got the other way? We're meant to be practicing right? So...that way." He pointed in a different direction, demanding and for once not feeling bad about it.
Kippei folded his arms, smirking, and cocked his head as he focused on a different point, again creating that pulling sensation to drag Shinji in a different direction. He increased the strength of it this time, not quite to normal gravity levels but enough to make it feel like falling sideways. It was a weird, weird feeling, and strong enough this time to reach past Shinji and pull him into the field as well. Shinji fell faster, having been closer, but after a moment Kippei felt it catch him too and the world abruptly shifted, and he was falling down and down to join Shinji at the bottom.
Weird. He could still see the grass covered ground, and he knew it was 'down' but it rose beside and above him, a wall of green that went as far as he could see. He chuckled, a bit breathless with disorientation. It was probably even stranger for him than it was for Shinji, since outside of his own constructed field he could still feel the larger presence and pull of the Earth's mass, always a constant.
"How about that," he murmured, slipping an arm around Shinji as he looked at the world from this new point of view. "You okay?" he thought to ask after a moment, worried that the sudden shift might have made Shinji feel sick or something.
Oh shit shit shit! Shinji was damn glad he didn't get motion sick easily, though this was making him a little queasy. That was fast and sideways and crap, kinda scary as hell. His throat was dry when he came to a halt in Kippei's arm and got a chance to look around and figure out just where up really was. Fucking hell.
"Fuck...." Stunned, that was it. Shinji blinked at Kippei, using him as his reality anchor, which wasnt the brightest move since Kippei was the one that was screwing with the way the world worked, but whatever. "You...that...oh fine, nine out of ten then."
Kippei grinned lazily, and leaned over to lick his cheek, teasing. "That's more like it," he purred, irrationally proud of gaining the admission. "Fucking will have to wait, though," he added in mock regret. "Unless you really want to try to figure out zero gee sex for the first time here."
He raised a questioning eyebrow and waited for a response, but he wasn't really serious, and the faint gleam of amusement in his eyes testified that he was still teasing. They hadn't ever tried that before, but he was pretty sure they could figure it out without much trouble. Fun as that would be, he was pretty damn sure that Shinji was not up for outdoor public sex--even if no one else was around.
A dark blush crept over Shinji's cheeks. Sex...while floating? In a whatever the hell they were in, where anyone could see them? Having sex in the sky? Shinji thought he might just explode at the thought. Kippei really was insane.
"No...we can do that later...in our room, where no one will see us and I wont die of embarassment before I get to kiss you again." He leant forward and did just that, tangling his arms around Kippei's neck so he could pull himself closer and kiss him properly with a silly smile because it was nice seeing Kippei being all proud of himself and Shinji liked it even more because it was how he always saw Kippei.
"You're purring, kitty cat."
Kippei looked affronted, pretending to be insulted, but it was hard to even pretend when Shinji had been kissing him. Later, in their room, sounded good to him. Anytime, really. Shinji was right, though, he was purring, but he was feeling damn good, happy and smug and entirely content.
"Hmmm," he murmured, doing it again as he nuzzled Shinji's hair, releasing the odd field as he did so and letting the world turn right side up again--although at the moment, with Shinji in his arms, he decided that it didn't matter which way was up, because down was always here. This was the center, some kind of ground in it's own right, wherever Shinji was. They definitely had to try floating sex soon.
"Later," he agreed, smirking. "Count on it."
Kippei was making promises so Shinji knew he was a little doomed, but he didnt mind at all. He just kept smiling at the smirk and petted Kippei's hair while the world turned right way up and that odd little panicky feeling in the bottom of his tummy disappeared. So yeah he knew Kippei would never drop him, but his body still knew if it wasn't for Kippei that he would be splattered somewhere; it just didn't know where.
"Hey Kippei...make us do it together? That way, over there. I want to go there, just like this." He knew now that Kippei could do it, and he wasn't trying to test it. He just wanted to feel it again, but with Kippei and that odd earthy scent while he was flying in the sky.
A slow wide grin spread over Kippei's face, replacing the smirk with a look of true, wondering delight. They could go there, together. They could fly. How often had he wished that he could actually go somewhere when he was floating? He laughed aloud, thrilled with the feeling of his power suddenly becoming useful, practical in a way that he had never expected. He could move things. If he was careful. He'd have to practice a lot more, especially if he wanted to try using it on smaller things. But this, this was very cool.
"Alright," he muttered, grinning, and concentrated on the direction Shinji had pointed. There, he thought, pulling hard, and then they were falling again, or flying, he wasn't even sure which, but really it was both. He pulled Shinji closer and kissed him exuberantly, because after all that was what you did when you were falling. Kiss all the way down.
Oh god, he wasnt sure he would ever used to that; falling but sideways and somehow not falling at all. Shinji just held tight to Kippei and enjoyed the kiss because there wasn't anything that Shinji liked doing more than kissing Kippei. He wished he could hear what Kippei was thinking, but maybe it was a good thing he couldn't because he might distract Kippei and that would be somewhat bad at this point.
"Hey Kippei. Tell me you love me using gravity only."
Kippei raised his eyebrows, giving him a curious look as they 'landed' at what was currently the bottom, and studied him thoughtfully. Tell him... using gravity? He blinked. What did that mean? He released the field that held them and let the familiar sense of natural gravity take hold again, pulling them gently back down to earth. Slowly, not so much falling as drifting down while he wrapped himself around Shinji and hummed in contentment, once again aware that his own personal center of gravity was here.
He smiled, a flicker of expression as he pushed Shinji's hair back gently and kissed the tip of his blue nose. "You are my gravity," he said gravely, shrugging a bit. He thought for a minute, and then tried something... focusing that sense of pulling something between them, pulling them together. He wasn't sure that it would work, and had no idea how it worked if it did, but... yes.
He grinned, strengthening the feeling until it was strong enough to almost be uncomfortable, but not quite painful, pressing them against each other, as if they were holding on more tightly than either of them could manage on their own. He could have let go with his hands and they still would have been as tightly meshed as any two human beings could get, but instead he wound the fingers of one hand in Shinji's hair and wrapped the other around his waist, resting in the feeling that even if they fell, they'd fall right into each other.
It felt even stronger than the pull of the ground as they finally came to rest there.
Oh god, he could do it. Shinji had been mostly kidding but Kippei was saying it. Had found a way and it was so tight it almost hurt but it was a good sort of hurt; the kind that said you're so close to me you cant breathe; so close you're all the way inside and through me. But words were ringing in Shinjis ears and he frowned, trying to think about them while he held Kippei. He was his gravity? That meant something; Shinji had felt it before when he had been in Kippei's head, but it was something he still couldnt completely grasp.
"You need me," he murmered distractedly, and it was an odd realisation. "You need me."
Kippei blinked, hearing in Shinji's voice that this was a new observation, and shook his head, smiling wryly. About time he figured that out. The smile faded slightly as he turned his head, kissing Shinji's hair and his face and his neck, everywhere he could reach, over and over again.
"Yes, I need you," he murmured between kisses, and his tone was that of fond exasperation. He stopped finally to take a breath, and realized that he felt... slightly dizzy, or lightheaded; at first he thought it was from not breathing, and then he realized it was more likely the effort of holding that unusual concentration of gravity between them. He sighed and released the rest of his fields, leaving the two of them standing on the ground, still holding on but unassisted by his power. He'd have to practice that one, too.
It was kind of odd, to know that you were needed. It made Shinji feel less inclined to be reckless or stupid. It made him want to stop and just think for a moment before he did things. It made him smile and hold on tight while they came back down. He frowned a little, concerned, and caressed Kippei's forehead with worried fingers.
"Are you okay? You've only done that once before and it wasn't for that long. You don't have a headache or anything do you? Are you tired? We can go home if you're tired, I don't mind. I'll even walk so you don't have to carry me anymore...."
Kippei chuckled and leaned forward, resting his forehead against Shinji's. "Shinji, I'm fine. Really. Just haven't done anything like that, that... close before. No headache, just..." He shrugged, grinning, locking his arms around Shinji's waist.
"I'm good." Maybe a little tired. But not that tired. Going home sounded good, but it wasn't like he couldn't still carry Shinji on the way. "I can carry you anytime," Kippei assured him smugly. "You're already light."
"Mmm....really?" Shinji was still a dubious, eyeing Kippei carefully and wishing he had his powers so he could check Kippei wasn't just being a stupid jock, but he didn't think so. If Kippei said he was fine, then he probably was, and if he said he could carry him then he could.
"That's good, because I really dont want to walk if I can be kissing you instead."
Kippei just nodded, still faintly smug, and picked him up again, Shinji's arms and legs wrapped around him and he took a very long minute to just kiss him thoroughly before he started walking again. He was tempted to try the flying thing again, to get them home instead of walking, but he was tired and if he wore himself out, he'd never hear the end of it from Shinji.
"We can practice again some other day, if you still want to help," he told Shinji as he made his way back along the treeline.
Shinji snorted softly, shaking his head. "Because there are so many reasons why I wouldn't want to help. Of course I want to stupid." He rolled his eyes and got back to the important things, like leaving more hickey's on Kippei's throat than anyone could possibly have left before. Hell yes that was important.
"Maybe we can fly home next time, if you dont get too tired or anything."
"The thought had crossed my mind," Kippei told him dryly. Next time was soon enough, though... they had all the time in the world. The soft purring rumbled in his throat again, a sound of pleased appreciation in response to Shinji's effort to apparently eat him alive--not that he was complaining, not at all.
"Next time we can fly."

Summary: Kippei needs Shinji's help for a little training practice.
