Summary: After a brief disappearance Inui reappears. Both of them seems to have changed since their last meeting and they play with each other a bit.

It had been more than a week since Renji had last seen. Since that night that he left quietly (it didn’t say much, all nights he left quietly but it seemed that night he was deathly silent in Renji’s mind) he’d stopped running into him on the streets and the other teen had not sought him out on the roof.

The slim crescent of the moon barely lit the dark sky, it looked like a sickle slicing through blackness sharply. The bed checks that had begun had put a damper on his nightly sessions. It was already 10 p.m. though the probability that they would check his room two nights in a row was low. Maybe he’d wait a little longer tonight. Renji liked to think that he wasn’t waiting blindly. After all in the past no matter how long Sadaharu disappeared he always reappeared. Truth be told probability was on his side.

Inui had disappeared for quite some time, more than a week, at least from Renji's point of view. He had spent his time remodeling himself, taking apart his unit and rebuilding it from the bottom up, making it smaller, more efficient, faster and with much less software. He had managed to crack, decode and uninstall half the programs that interfered with his personal mental process. The length of time away from his unit gave him a new look on life, and a new way to dress. He discarded his black layers, of loose fabric for something he found to be more be fitting the role of a killer of the night. Loose slacks were exchanged for a pair of black leather-like pair of pants: tight enough to allow for swift noiseless movement through the night, but soft enough to not restrict his range of motion. His top was made of the same material, with the same purpose. His unit rested against the small of his back, wires still the same as they had always been, and all of it was covered by a long, sleek black jacket and a high collar.

His time away also gave him time to refine his powers. He could create larger projections, move them like puppets - and if he so desired, could change parts of his appearance. Like give himself longer hair. He was like a human image inducer.

Now, some of his time had also been spent watching Renji. He changed a little too. He modified his own computer and also set up a security system around Ryuhana, one he would have liked to break up that required hacking into Renji's system and he preferred not to do that - despite his superior equipment. He also couldn't see without his glasses, making his holograms almost useless. He did enjoy scaring old men with images of mutants running through the streets.... then killing them. Beautiful. But he had tact. He didn't kill relentlessly and leave a path of destruction in his wake the way those other brotherhood children did. They had no style in their murders. Awful.

He perched himself quite a distance away from Ryuhana, watching Renji on the roof. He seemed to never give up. Determination..... how foolish.

Renji flipped open the cover and felt the face of his watch to check the time. Technically he didn’t need to leave, probability was…. But then again, 10:30 p.m., he tried to remember what time Sadaharu usually came but it was only recently that he’d started to keep track of time at night thanks to the newly enforced curfew. He shuffled through his pockets to pull out his visual interface and plugging it in, he’d come back tomorrow night.

After a moment's thought, Inui jumped off. The modification of his unit did nothing to change his physical capabilities, but he was still better than a human, he stopped, landing on a tree, looking down at Renji. He was wearing his glasses now. What a pity, he thought to himself. After a moment, he jumped, landing behind him. He still moved with the same silence - maybe even more so, now that his clothes were tighter against his body. He wondered how the security would work now that he clearly crossed into territory that was not friendly.

Renji knew the precise moment Sadaharu crossed onto school grounds. He didn’t let it show on his face though, ignoring the other teen as he made his way towards the staircase. Sadaharu liked to think he could take Renji by surprise.

Inui had hoped that Renji would have felt his presence, which, he had an assumption he could, considering the security system was connected to him. He smirked a bit and took another path to the stairs, moving quickly and quietly enough to cut him off at the stairs, standing, looking at him.

He grinned at Sadaharu, of course he’d been watching so he probably knew. “It’s been a while,” now that Sadaharu was here Renji realized it really hadn’t been long at all. “You look different,” he commented taking in Sadaharu’s appearance. His clothes were…tight, it was very easy to see what he looked like under the clothes.

Inui raised an eyebrow at the grin and the comment. It wasn't so much worth it to make a comment in return. Instead he reached out with his hand, brushing a hand against Renji's cheek, gently, lovingly. He didn't say anything.

The touch surprised him slightly but since Sadaharu didn’t say anything Renji kept silent as well, not wanting to break the moment whatever it was. He tilted his head slightly into the couch, the warmth lingering even when Sadaharu pulled his hand away.

It was an interesting experiment, to say the least, the way Renji tilted his head into his hand. He decided to pursue. Things were different not. Touch still disgusting him, but he knew now that he could use it to his advantage. He did once, actually. He had seduced a young woman who beat her brother who had somehow been associated with mutants. He continued to touch Renji, sliding a hand across his shoulder, down his arm.

Renji smiled slightly at the touch, “Are you having fun toying with me?” His tone was amused, pleased almost. He didn’t pull away from Sadaharu’s touch, letting the hand slide over his body however it might be inclined to.

"Am I toying?" Inui finally managed to speak. His voice sounded completely serious, almost hurt by the statement Renji had made.

“There’s 99 per cent probability that you are the remaining one per cent is just my optimism,” it was a complete lie of course. Renji smiled at Sadaharu, “How are you?”

Inui took a moment to look at that smile. It amused him, hearing that response. After that moment, he leaned forward and kissed him - not at all gently - more as passionately as he could manage with closed lips.

Renji kissed back, hands coming up to either side of Sadaharu’s face, holding him there. He pushed back after a moment, tilting his head slightly, “That doesn’t answer anything.”

Inui raised an eyebrow slightly. Renji seemed... different, but he decided not to sit on it for too long. He continued to play. "You asked something?"

“Yes, I asked, ‘How are you?’” Renji replied, pushing the glasses frames up his nose, watching his vision shift. He licked his lips slightly, the sensation of their lips pressed harshly together lingering.

"Hn..." Inui mulled quietly over the question for a moment, pulling away and crossing his arms firmly over his chest. "I..... I am... visual monitory weapon 0893, of course." Like that would answer anything.

Renji grinned as if he’d expected that answer. Perhaps he did. “How, not what, Sadaharu,” he chided softly, crossing his arms over his chest as well.

"Then how do you expect a visual monitoring weapon to be?" Inui challenged.

“Well, if you insist on being that stubborn...how are your functions? Your unit has been updated.” Renji noted neutrally, circling around to see the small bump hidden under the jacket.

"Hmm, a unit of that size was affecting my freedom of movement. The size is more manageable, and my functions are.... as well as they can be. I've been better, perhaps." Inui brushed a hand through his hair. "As for yourself? You seem.... different."

“Is it bad?” Renji asked curiously, toying with the frames of his glasses as if that was what they were referring to.

"It fits you. They look like my glasses," Inui commented, lips turning upwards into a smirk.

Renji smiled slightly, “I’m glad you think so.” He didn’t say anything about his upgrades. He was sure Sadaharu knew about it to an extent, not completely but Renji had never liked giving information away unless he needed to.

"Hm, good that you can see now too. So you don't need my visual assistance, what with us not being able to play on the same sides." Inui turned away slightly, looking out from the rooftop.

“That’s not the reason I want to connect with you,” Renji said simply, his smile didn’t waver. It didn’t bother him that the two of them were on “different sides.” It made no difference where they were.

"Do you get a certain thrill when our senses connect?" Inui asked, voice low.

Renji smirked, “Very much so.”

"Oh, what a reaction. I can see you smirking. I would not have expected that you were capable of such."

His face went back to the blank neutral for a moment before he smiled slowly, deceptively innocently, “Would you connect with me now?”

Inui wondered if the smile he saw the corner of his eye meant something else. He tossed his head back casually and glanced at him with dark look. "And interfere with your personal visual processor? I highly doubt it. I would rather not compete with it."

“There are ways to connect that wouldn’t interfere with anything,” Renji shrugged slightly, offering.

"What a peculiar suggestion," Inui commented, raising an eyebrow, turning to look at him.

Renji looked at Sadaharu pleasantly, “Take it as you will.” He walked around again, circling the other teen fully.

Inui couldn't help but roll his eyes at the circling before reaching out and grabbing Renji around the waist, pulling him close. "Understand," he muttered in a low voice, "with a comment like that, I may feel the freedom to hurt you."

“I’ve always given you that freedom,” Renji returned with a smile. Renji put a hand over Sadaharu’s that curved against his hip. “Take it as you will,” he invited again, tilting his head up slightly.

"You have so much faith in the fact that I won't hurt you, that would so risk yourself like that. One day," Inui warned in the same low voice, "one day I just might." His other hand reached for Renji's throat, nails digging in just slightly into the side as if he were fighting the urge to strangle him. And yet, his head was tilted upwards, his expression inviting and all Inui could do was lean forward and kiss him (not at all in a loving away).

Renji held back a laugh at Sadaharu’s actions and just accepted the kiss. He reached up to wrap his arm around the other teen’s neck, kissing back ardently. His lips parted slightly to lap lightly at Sadaharu’s lips.

Inui spoke against Renji's lips. "Hmm, in such a short time, you kiss as though you've done this forever. Have you been practicing?" He smirked and kissed him again.

He moaned quietly against Sadaharu’s lips, wanting to say something but waiting for the kiss to break first. “Only with you,” he murmured softly before kissing Sadaharu again, tugging lightly at the other teen’s lower lip teasingly.

"Then, have you been kissing the air like you've been speaking?” Inui pulled away, leaving the cold air to slip between their lips.

Renji did laugh, softly, melodically. “Shouldn’t you know that?” he challenged quietly. He hadn’t but that didn’t mean he hadn’t been thinking about it enough to replay each moment, imagining the feeling again.

"My focus isn't always on you, so sometimes I'd miss things," Inui commented, running his thumb over Renji's lips.

Pursing his lips slightly he kissed Sadaharu’s thumb. “I’ve been thinking about it. Perhaps we should see what skills my imagination gives me?”

"Imagination or preinstalled information?" Inui raised an eyebrow.

“Imagination, I have very little preinstalled information about sex with men. I was programmed to be heterosexual.”

Inui couldn't help but laugh at that - well, not really laugh, more like cough in an uncomfortable manner. He wasn't really capable of laughing. Or rather, he preferred not to laugh. "Interesting. I was programmed to be asexual."

“It seems neither of us function as we were programmed to,” Renji observed casually. That was interesting. Not as interesting as the half cough, half laugh that Sadaharu let out. Renji arched an eyebrow in return.

"We were also programmed to be obedient, and yet we all still raised a mutiny against them and the way the treated us and other mutants." Inui pressed his forehead against Renji's.

"I've been doing research and discovered that while the few of us were able to get rid of the source, there are others who are working to begin the program again. Subordinates who had access to the information but weren't directly involved. Not that it should concern you." He kissed him again, pulling him closer.

Renji wasn’t sure if Sadaharu was telling the truth or if he was just playing again. Either way it didn’t matter, the past belonged in the past, there was no need to dig it back up. Though if others were going to be made to suffer their fate perhaps he should look into it. For now he just tucked it into the corner of his mind and focused on the feeling of Sadaharu’s lips against his own. His arms were wrapped around the other teen’s shoulders, pulling himself close to Sadaharu. “Would you like to take this down to my room?” he asked, murmuring softly against Sadaharu’s lips.

Inui looked at him for a moment, before smirking against Renji's lips. "In that room with the broken door?" he asked.

“The door is fixed actually,” Renji replied, pressing another brief kiss to that smirk. It was the first time that he’d been able to look at Sadaharu for so long. He was beginning to look incredibly sexy.

"Better that way, then. So no one can see. That's kind of dangerous, isn't it?" Inui began to pull away, but as he did, he tugged gently on the wire that connected Renji to his glasses, pulling it out and blinding him again.

Renji frowned slightly as he lost the connection and his sight but let Sadaharu have his way. “I’ve never known you to worry about something being dangerous,” he replied simply.

"I never said I was worrying. Nor did my voice ever have any sort of inflection." Inui started towards the stairs. "I trust you know your way without the need for visual assistance."

He removed the glasses, coiling the wire in his hand and tucking it into his pocket. “My mistake then,” Renji murmured softly before leading the way to his room.

Inui took a moment before following, not caring if anyone saw or thought he was some intruder in black out to kill the poor boy attached to a computer. He folded his arms as he stepped into the room, closing the door behind him quietly.

Renji smiled slightly as he heard the door click shut. There was always the possibility that Sadaharu would leave him on the way to the room. He sat down on his bed and tilted his head towards Sadaharu, waiting to see what he would do.

Inui took a seat on the bed, and took a few moments to mull over the situation at hand. No. There wasn't much to think about. Renji was good for sex. That girl had been good for sex too, pity she's dead now. He leaned over to kiss him.
