As many of you know, our mission is to protect our community. We have done so in so many different ways: by building mutant-human relations, by contributing scientific research, by teaching, and -- through the efforts of X-Prime -- by going into the community itself to actively do what is in our power to do.
We will need these powers now more than ever.
There is something on the horizon: something greater than any foe we have fought in our school's history. It looms like a shadow over all of the good work that we have done to foster acceptance and communication in this world. I can't say whether it's born of hatred, but certainly of evil, and I believe it is in our powers -- all of our powers -- to stop it.
This event will happen near summer's end this year. It is catastrophic, destructive, and deadly; an event that will decimate the city, taking with it many lives.
We must find a way to determine what this is. I believe the stage has already been set. I need your help in finding the source of this destruction and ending it before it happens. Time is short, my students. I urge you to do what you can: I can't do this alone.
This is more than a mission -- it's our responsibility as mutants.
