Summary: Kaidoh goes to return something that's not his.

Kaidoh Kaoru walked down the hallway purposefully, already feeling his cheeks warm at the thought of what lay in the pocket of the oversized - and rather ripped up the back - hoodie he was wearing. This thing was not his and he was not going to keep it. And that was that. It now seemed quite clear who'd "given" it to him, and he had every intention of "giving" it back.

He made his way to the open door he was looking for and knocked on the wood, glancing inside to see if the occupant was at home. "Niou-san?"

Now, hell if anyone could mistake that voice. “Kaidoh-kun?” Niou grinned, sitting up on the bed. He hadn’t been sleeping or anything. Just lying there. “Come in – take a seat.” And well, he’d kind of been expecting this. Though perhaps ‘anticipating it with a wide, wide grin’ would be more accurate.

“What brings you to these parts?”

Kaidoh came in, frowning, and decided to decline the invitation to sit. It wasn't like he wanted to stay all that long, and he couldn't really sit back in the chair, so what was the point? He looked at the older boy sitting on the bed and looking... well, extremely pleased with himself. What a surprise.

It wasn't that Kaidoh didn't like Niou-san - the older boy was strange and a little too flamboyant for Kaidoh's tastes, but he wasn't unlikable. No, it was that he severely disliked what he'd done. And he knew that he was just asking to be made fun of by coming here and trying to get this whole mess out of his hair.

"I think you left something in my room," he said plainly, watching the other for a reaction, though he wasn't sure at all what he was going to get. "I want to return it."

Niou cocked his head, raising an eyebrow dubiously. “Is that so?” he asked. He hadn’t left it: he’d planted it. Slight distinction made all the difference. “I’m not sure I know what you’re talking about.”

Dammit - he could already feel his cheeks growing red. Kaidoh fingered the magazine in his pocket and considered the other boy - but he'd always been horrible at reading people in general, and people like Niou-san were even harder. He might as well not try. It wasn't really worth it. He might look the picture of playful innocence, but that really could not be the truth.

"Yes you do. This stupid thing." He pulled it out and tossed it across the room to land on the bed beside Niou-san. "I sure as hell don't want it. Take it back."

Niou blinked as the magazine landed on his bed and flopped open. He inspected the random double–page spread curiously for a moment (in truth, he hadn’t looked at the thing upon purchase - or after - really), then glanced back up at Kaidoh. “You think I put this in your room? What on earth would I have it for in the first place?”

Kaidoh was sure that he was blushing furiously by now. "Because you were the one who showed that website to Ohtori-kun," he accused, remembering the other boy's embarrassed reaction to just about anything for days after that. And it hadn't helped that that damned Shishido had lousy timing and had decided to yell at Kaidoh a few days after the website incident. He was not in a good mood, despite having mostly talked things over with Ohtori recently. He still didn't want people leaving him random "presents" in his room. Especially not if they were like this.

"And because you don't need keys, and even if you did, you have them for cleaning. And - dammit. I need to talk to you about that anyway," he said, remembering the other reason he'd needed to speak with Niou. "But first… t-that's not mine and I don't want it," he said, trying to muster a tone of finality as he pointed to the magazine now lying open on the bed.

“Don’t try to shove your porn off on me, boy,” Niou said darkly. But it was oh-so-amusing to see Kaidoh’s face trying to compete with a tomato on fire. “Plus, I’m hardly the only one who doesn’t need keys around here.” In his own defence. Of course, the fact that he was one of the few who would abuse that power if he so pleased was completely irrelevant.

As an afterthought, he added: “And that link was a point in my case, no?” He picked up the magazine by a thumb and forefinger as if it was contaminated by the Dirty Things. “It was for Ohtori. I hardly look at this trash.” Behold, the one pure grain of truth. He threw the mag back at Kaidoh with a flick of his wrist. "Nothing doing."

Kaidoh sighed with frustration - Niou had to have been the one that did it. He was sure of it now. And he was not going back on that accusation. Even if the other refused to take it back, there was nothing to say that just "forgetting" it wouldn't do the trick just as well. Kaidoh set the magazine on the desk behind him roughly. "It's not mine," he insisted. "It showed up in my room the other day." He supposed that pointing out that he wasn't old enough to buy it himself - and that Niou was - would be mostly moot. "And don't show that stuff to Ohtori-kun - he was jumpy as hell for days after and I wasn't even going to - shit." He needed to stop talking about that. Before the whole school found out. It was bad enough that Shishido knew - Kaidoh did not want to be the one responsible for telling Niou-san that he and Ohtori were dating. He would just get accused of wanting to do more bad things, which he really had no intention of doing. No matter what anyone else said. Or even how afraid he was that he might do them, if the world seemed so sure he would.

Sometimes the phasing mutant wondered if he really was the one asleep half the time in this world. Really. Calcium overdose and all that completely aside, Kaidoh was just so dense. Well, either that, or Niou’s brain leaned toward the side of fundamental perversion.

He swung his legs off the bed’s edge, resting a lazy chin in his hand, elbow on knee, and gazed at Kaidoh out of the corner of his eye. “Play nice, little kitty <3” The bone boy could take that any whichever of three ways he liked.

Now what was Niou-san going on about? Kaidoh blinked, completely confused. That could mean any number of things - how the hell was he supposed to know which to choose? Dammit. Damn him and his inability to read people. And damn Niou and his ways of confusing him even more.

Well, he could start with the one most linked to the current conversation. "I'm not going to d-do anything to him. Do I look like I am?" he asked angrily, hitching up the sweatshirt a little to show (painfully) protruding hipbones. That had better come out, and soon. "Everyone keeps telling me the same thing." He sighed. "I'm not." That had already caused enough trouble this week. But at least he didn't feel like he had to close himself up into the smallest space possible when talking to Ohtori anymore. And that felt better.

And he didn't want to dwell on that anyway - it was just embarrassing all over again. "And," he said slowly, "I…I need to talk to you about something else, too."

“Mm~hm?” Niou had a good idea what that something else would be. He leaned back on the bed, legs crossing at the ankles. Kaidoh was too easy to read (though granted – those protrusions looked like they hurt in more ways than one) – he didn’t even need to guess. “Say your piece; I’m all ears.”

Kaidoh sighed, watching Niou carefully. He was pretty sure the other wouldn't go running to the staff and tell them he was keeping a cat in his room, but... it was better to be sure. He shifted nervously. “Well. If you've been in my room, or are going to be, or whatever... um. I... have a cat.” He paused. 'That the teachers don't know about. I'd. Um. Prefer if you didn't say anything to them.” Threatening would get him nowhere with someone like Niou, and outright asking was just too pathetic. He wasn't sure if this was much better, though. Nor was he sure about what he'd do if Niou refused to keep it a secret.

“Mm~m,” came the reply, non-committal in every sense of the word. Niou was amused, though. He’d already cleaned each occupied room in the new wing twice – had seen the cat on his second day on the job, in fact. And it had only occurred to Kaidoh lately? But the boy had nothing to fear (though Niou certainly didn’t have to tell him that). Blackmailing someone so intrinsically nice was no fun. And no self-respecting player ratted on someone if given a valid alternative. And there were plenty of those around. A small smile tugged at his lips. “Is that all?”

“Yeah.” Kaidoh sighed. That's all. He hadn't really thought Niou-san would care, but... well, he'd had to ask. “I... appreciate it, thanks. That's it.” He turned to go, having nothing much more to say. Even if Niou wouldn't admit that he was the one that left the magazine, Kaidoh was now more sure than ever that it had been him. Well. He'd just ignore it.

Since he couldn’t know that the mag would be in a bag marked ‘For Kaidoh’ at the lost and found in Student Life anyway. Niou grinned. “See you around.” Might as well give the guy one night off.

Kaidoh just nodded and left as quickly as possible, hoping that maybe now he'd get at least some respite from Niou's practical jokes… or whatever they were.
